chapter 3

(JAYDEN'S POV)

I sat in class unable to pay attention to the lectures we were having. The thought of Elora just plainly rejecting me without even giving me a chance had left me perplexed.

I wasn't willing to give up regardless because of the openly disappointment I received from her earlier. I must have repay that debt.

But now, I have to look for a way to win her over. Perhaps I should ask my friends how to go on about this.

Yeah I had better do that. Then I breezed through the class, and when it was our lunch break, I left the class to meet my friends.

I meet sam along with others at the cafeteria. "Yo Jayden"! Sam calls out to me, "hurry" he says.

I greet the other guys seated there as we were all friends, and also have a seat.

"I see you and the chick are now seat mates. Hows that going"? he asks.

"Bad bro, the girl isn't even willing to look my way. Like the girl ain't flinching". I said.

"Wow you mean there's a girl in this school who isn't all over you Jay? "Who's the girl" Austin asks.

"The girl who said trash to him earlier today in class, remember" Sam quickly says laughing.

"Oh yeah, I was aware of that. So Jayden, you actually like this one, or it's just the usual you looking for now to get his way and scram" ? Austin asked facing me.

"Uhmm, just looking for a way to get in between her legs, so definitely the second one" i reply him with an expressionless face.

"Lol why you asking such questions anyways, you should know know Jay by now, it's not as if he's ever approached any girl with genuine feelings" Samuel quickly adds.

"So what's your plan Jayden, what you gonna do about this girl that's refusing to budge" Sam asks.

"I think you should just plainly ask her out", Dave says.

"Nah that's too boring for me, I need to do something before asking her out, something nice you know". I replied.

"Well If you really want to be with her this badly, then maybe you should take her seriously and approach her with genuine feelings" Stephen said.

With this statement everyone laughs commenting him on the joke he just laid,

"I'm not joking tho, I'm being totally serious about this" Stephen added"

"Uhmm it seems you don't understand this situation, so just keep your opinions for now" I replied

"How about you start giving her gifts then, like a lot of them" Sam suggested.

"Yeah most girls trip over things like that." I replied "perhaps staying around me has made you smarter" I added

"Ha, actually it's the opposite." He said.

"Anyways, let's round up and head back to class." I suggested.

So we do that and get back to class for the rest of the day. I try to talk to her a few more times, but all I kept getting was her cold ignorance.

Then it was time to go home due to the end of classes for the day. "Goodbye Elora we'll see tomorrow." I say with a smile as I pick up my bag to start leaving.

She doesn't say anything, but this time she just looks at me for a while, as if lost in thought and then resumes packing her things.

I expected no reply so I just left the class to head to my brother's classroom.

On my way, Sam comes out to meet with me. "You're coming to my place later today bro, right" he asks.

"I don't know yet but don't wait on me tho, cause I think I'm gonna go get Elora her first gift today." I reply.

"Oh right, well how about you come to my place and then we can go get the gift together for her, how does that sound?" He asked.

"Well didn't even think of that. Okay then, I'll come during the evening time so we can go together aight?" I suggest.

"Okay, sounds good to me." He replies.

"I'm going to my brother's class room now tho, wanna come with? I asked"

"Okay let's go there, not like I'm going home with anyone else anyways" He replies.

So we go to my younger brother Aaron's class and as soon as he sees me, he runs to hug me. He was just in grade 6 then so his class block was different from ours.

"Jayden I was given an assignment in class today" Aaron said, "don't worry champ, we'll do it when we get home" I quickly reply as we leave the school premises.

We all get in the school bus together and the bus began to move when all the sits had been occupied.

"I'm still contemplating on the kind of gift to get her tho. Got any idea on the type of gift nerdy girls like?" I asked

"Well not really. but when we get there, we should be able to pick a good one." He replied.

"Yeah, I guess so. Okay then later it is." I added.

After a while, the bus gets to Sam's house, and he drops off, then next was mine.

It eventually gets to my house and I drop off along with my brother.

"Good afternoon mum" I greet as soon as I saw my mum upon entering the house.

"How are you, how was school today? She asked with interest."

"Fine mum. nothing happened today tho, just the usual" I answer.

"Oh, that's okay" she replied.

I go up into my room, drop my backpack and fell on on the bed, I wanted to have a quick nap, but I couldn't because thoughts started flooding into my head.

What was the particular reason for Elora's coldness towards me? I asked myself.

I don't remember ever having an encounter with her or ever meeting her before today at school. So I'm sure I haven't wronged her in anyway.

And it's not as if she doesn't just mingle with boys, its particularly me she doesn't want to be friends with.

I hope I'm able to change her perspective towards me tho, perhaps she's also one of those material girls that can be won over by money and gifts.

"Jayden! Come down and eat your food, or aren't you hungry" That was my Mum's voice calling from down stairs.

"I'll be there down soon mom, just give me a minute" I replied.

I was lazy to go down stairs because of the stress from today's activity in school. Then I suddenly remembered.

I had to finish whatever I was doing so I could go meet up with Sam so we could go to the store together.

I immediately mustered energy and took off my uniform, had my bath and then changed to casual wears which was just a blue Jean trouser and a t- shirt.

I went down stairs and met my mom still watching her movies. Then I quickly started eating.

"Mum, thanks for the food, it was delicious as always." I said

"You're welcome Jay. are you going out, you look dressed for an occasion" she asked

"No ma, I replied laughing. I'm just over to Samuel's house, I'll be back later" I replied.

"Okay dearie, dont stay late, okay?" She implied.

"Yes mum, love you" I said while leaving the house. "Love you too" she replied.

I order a ride and get to Samuel's street in minutes, I had earlier called him to inform him of my coming, so as to get prepared so we wouldn't waste much time.

I met him on their porch waiting for me, we greet and then we walked into a gift shop in his area.

We start searching for gifts, I show him a flower and a letter accompanied by a box of makeup items, "she's a nerd remember?, "i doubt she's going to be intrested in all this type of stuff". He pointed out.

"Yh probably. oh I know, how about this bear" I said picking up a medium sized teddy bear.

"Yeah that's nice, most girls like that. So she should too, oh add a box of chocolates to complete the whole thing" Sam suggested.

"Yeah that's a dope idea" I said.

So we picked the teddy bear and a box mixed with different types of chocolates went to the counter, i paid and we left with it.

Then we went to his house, and played some video games ate and then it was time for me to leave.

"So when do you plan on giving her all this Jay?" He asked.

"Uhmm tomorrow I guess, isn't that the reason I wanted to get it today, so I can give her as soon as possible?" I asked with sarcasm as we walked on the streets waiting for the ride I ordered.

"Yeah, I know no need to be a b***h about it" he replies and almost immediately, the cab arrived.

"So see you in school tomorrow bro" he said.

"Yeah. I'll see you, that's if you make it to tomorrow" replied smiling.

I got home, my mum was in the kitchen so I greet her from the living room and she seemed too busy cooking to care about what I might have brought back. So she replies from the kitchen.

I then run upstairs with the gifts in my hands. And then I write a letter in a piece of paper in an aesthetic way to Express my feelings to her. And put it on the box of chocolates.

I hope she doesn't reject them tomorrow. And I hope she actually believes this little epistle I've written for her.

I then took out my books, did some assignments and later on went to eat dinner. After eating, I came back to my room and resigned for the night.

My alarms starts ringing, I woke up to the disturbing but familiar sound coming from my phone.

It was the next day. I got up excited about how I'm about to nail another girl especially after rejecting my hand of friendship.

I took my bath, ate and left for school in a hurry. On arriving in school I look for Freda and happen to see her amongst other people.

"Hi Freda, can I talk to you for a sec," I asked. She nodded to signify yes, and then followed me to my locker.

"I really need you to help me give Elora these gifts, before lunch time, do you think you could do that" I ask

"Sure I can" she replies and collect the gifts. I thank her for the help.

After lunch time I see Elora and I go to meet her. "Hi Elora good afternoon" I greeted.

"Good afternoon Jayden, thanks for the gifts you sent, but there was no need for that. It doesn't change anything between us, just so you know" she said and then walked out.

I was left dumbfounded but then I thought, if this gift made her even reply to my greetings and talk to me in a less aggressive manner, I wonder what I could accomplish with more gifts.
