Impatiently, and still in my Sunday best, I caught an earlier bus than necessary to Rushton. Being a limited Sunday service I had fewer choices and decided that being a little early shouldn"t matter too much. After church and lunch, I"d retreated to my room and tried to occupy myself – I started to read but ended up repeating the same paragraph over and over as I couldn"t concentrate on it, I pointlessly arranged and re-arranged the things on my dressing table, I lay on my bed, I cleaned my teeth, brushed my hair. When, at last, I could restrain myself no longer, I left. I was satisfied that I wasn"t going to be ridiculously early, as long as I didn"t rush.
