I woke up with a start, my neck stiff from sleeping awkwardly, and realised that I"d not even undressed last night, falling asleep fully clothed and shod. Then I recalled a dream – I felt it more than remembered it, so vivid were the images. I knew the emotions of it and sensed the fear of it. I looked at the door as if I could tell by looking at it what lay on the other side. I looked at my watch. Twenty to eight. A deep sigh escaped my lips as I relaxed back onto the bed. Relief.
