Although I couldn"t bear to move anything in Lola"s home, I felt I could in her garden. As she"d once had the joy of nurturing and caring for such things, I didn"t feel bad about trying in a small and amateurish way to resurrect the green space she would have loved. I hoped she was looking down at me and smiling as I toiled happily in her garden. I"d borrowed the floppy straw hat I"d found hanging on a peg in the hall and Gabe was loaned some tools from Harry Stanley. Whenever I could I"d be weeding, digging, pruning, cutting and sowing. All new to me, I found that I enjoyed the time outside and was pleased with the little areas of progress gradually being seen in the garden.
