Ariana abruptly hit the brakes as she heard a loud thud not too far behind her. When she looked in the mirror, the girl was shocked to see Anthony being struck and thrown onto the pavement.
Ariana screamed, covering her mouth, "Anthony!!" Due to their velocity, the car that struck his boss zoomed by her car and narrowly missed hitting her.
Ariana saw the outline of the driver in the car for a moment. However, she was too busy to notice as everything unfolded rapidly. Ariana couldn't determine the gender of the perpetrator because the driver had on a black hat.
Certainly, the girl is now turning the car around to go back to where Anthony's body is located.
Oh no! Ariana's cries were silenced as she exited the car. Both hands covered her mouth as her eyes widened in disbelief.
Anthony was unconscious, lying down. His head and right leg were surrounded by blood on the asphalt, with the rest of his body covered in wounds.
Ariana shook the man's body with eyes that were bloodshot. She was filled with panic and could only think of calling an ambulance to help the man.
At the moment, Ariana is sitting on the aisle bench of the surgery unit, waiting for the man. She was trembling. She grumbled harshly as she ran her fingers through her hair.
She quickly looked at the clock above the door, showing 02:00 AM. One hour has passed since the man was admitted to the operating room due to a burst blood vessel in his knee, necessitating immediate surgery. Ariana was hopeful for the man's survival.
"Fortunately, the procedure has been completed." After monitoring the patient for a few hours, we will proceed with the transfer.
Ariana felt relieved after hearing the update on Anthony from the team of doctors. The girl was unsure why she felt so compassionate. She even waited for Anthony until he was moved to the inpatient room.
Ariana took action due to the fact that Keenan was completely unreachable. She is also unaware of the contact number for Anthony's nearest relatives to notify. Typically, she was accustomed to going with her boss to the office daily, so the girl instinctively made sure the man was safe and looked after him.
"Why hasn't ‘the CEO of Zero Ethics’ woken up yet?" Ariana whispered while observing the man lying in bed. "He completed the surgery hours earlier, and it's already nine in the morning."
All of a sudden, Diana felt her cell phone vibrating. She believed it was relatives far removed from Keenan or Anthony who had phoned, who possibly had information about this news. The person who contacted her was the hospital administration in charge of her mother's care before she passed away.
[Miley, Hospital Administration]: "Apologies, Miss Ariana." We are interested in inquiring about the expenses for the chemotherapy treatment of the deceased. Are you able to complete the payment today?”
Ariana breathed in deeply. She just recalled that there are still loose ends to tie up regarding her mother.
While Ariana's mother was receiving medical care, she was not able to use her health insurance. So, she personally covered the costs from the start of treatment until her mother passed away.
[Miley Hospital Administration]: "We are optimistic that you will be able to complete it soon. If not, we will struggle as well. I trust that you will comprehend.
After the call ended, the girl sat thoughtfully on the couch beside the bed. I thought she recognized that her current actions seemed like a waste of time.
She murmured, gazing at her body and her clothes, and wondered, "Why am I here?" She has been awake all night and is still in a dirty white dress. Looking in a mirror attached to the closet in the hospital room, she was surprised to see her reflection.
"Completely chaotic," she muttered, scrunching up her face. Her eyes, lips, and hair were all a disheveled mess, covered in smudged mascara. How come I am just realizing this now?
The girl then turned around to face Anthony. "I shouldn't have to deal with this man and be in this place," she snapped. "Why do I waste my time on things that aren't significant?"
She rose to her feet and folded her hands together. It hasn't been long since Mama was buried, and there are still numerous tasks I need to complete for her affairs.
Ariana wiped her tears, flowing once more, as she recalled losing her angel.
Without glancing back at Anthony, Ariana hastily exited the ward, pounding her chest. Ariana felt the same tightness and guilt resurfacing, prompting her desire to retreat back home for solitude.
As soon as the girl reached the hospital lobby, two strong men came towards her and prevented her from moving forward. "May I ask if you are Ms. Ariana Rose?"
Ariana came to a halt and gave a nod, observing the pair with a perplexed expression. "Who are those individuals? How come they recognize me?” The girl's thoughts were brimming with curiosity.
One of the men displayed his identification badge and gave his name. "We are police officers who have been informed about an accident near the residence of Mr. Anthony Bree." We would like to request your testimony as a witness.
Ariana was astonished as repeatedly things happened that strengthened her connection with her boss.
"Miss Ariana, come to the police office with us."
Confused, Ariana was instructed to sit in the police car and attracted a lot of attention from hospital onlookers.
When Ariana arrived at the police station, she was escorted to a small, bare room with a table and two chairs positioned opposite each other.
"Your name is Ariana Rose, twenty-three years old, the eldest of two siblings. Employed as the secretary of Mr. Anthony at the ADIOS Company. Is that accurate?" inquired Rendy, as he perused Ariana's bio that he easily obtained. He was the police officer who had arrived at the hospital earlier to collect the girl.
Ariana nodded, but she included. "I am simply a trainee secretary, Sir," she said naively. She somehow started to feel slightly nervous.
Describe the activities you were engaged in at the villa last night. Randy's voice still had a relaxed quality.
Ariana found it puzzling that she would be believed to have approached the man with the intention of seeking revenge through verbal insults, which was shameful. "Indeed, I have a small matter to attend to with Mr. Anthony," she awkwardly smiled.
Randy simply nodded, with a slight grin. Naturally, the man was accustomed to receiving similar responses when interrogating witnesses and suspects. "How did you come across the victim? Can you provide me with the sequence of events?”
Ariana mentioned that as she was leaving the villa, Anthony walked out with her, and when they reached the intersection, she heard a loud noise and narrowly avoided being hit by a speeding vehicle.
"Oh, did you mention that a different car was on its way? Wasn't the villa very peaceful at that moment?” Rendy stated while squinting. "Could you clarify why there is damage to the front of your rented vehicle and why the turn signal is not functioning?"
"My car?" Ariana took a moment to reflect, processing the significance of this policy inquiry.
Ariana felt like she was being suspected. The girl's eyes bulged as she pointed at herself, wearing a look of disbelief.
"Oh, my goodness! Don’t say that you suspect that I crashed Mr. Anthony? It is ridiculous!”
