Chapter 8 When Wade got to town, the Sunset Limited had nearly finished boarding since there were few passengers to either embark or get off. Darnell was nowhere to be seen. Wade knew the agent who cheerfully sold him tickets through to Philadelphia, taking a moment to review timetables in order to map out the fastest route. And he asked the engineer to wait one more minute. As Wade ran out, ticket in hand, the porter picked up the step stool and shoved it into the last open coach door. Wade didn’t need it. He stepped up just as the whistle blew and the wheels began to turn. He’d get off at El Paso and board a Missouri Pacific express to Kansas City. From there, he’d go on to Philadelphia on a New York Central train. Once he got to Pennsylvania, he had no idea where to begin his search,
