Chapter 17

I must have fell unconscious at some point because as I woke up to a very bright room, the walls white and I can hear machines I must be in the hospital, I soon got confirmation that I was as a doctor walks in towards me, I'm so sore I can't move, but I seem to be stuck...I can't move and think I've got neck brace on 'how the hell did she do this to me? I had her, but she still beat the s**t out of me' I thought to myself, then I heard the doctor "hey young man, how are you feeling? I'm your doctor for today, how so you feel now with the painkillers?" I answer "still pretty sore, but not as bad as when I first came" I didn't know exactly how bad it was "well, you're not finished here, we still need to do more to help you fully recover" the doctor says, confused as to what exactly is going to happen and what is happening "so, what now?" I ask the lights still bright "for now, you will rest and I'm going to discuss with other doctors about the next step" "ok, thanks doc" I say and close my eyes trying to keep the light out and ignore the awful pain I'm in.

I walk up to my son and his friends, wishing I had better news to give as my son stood up and asked "any news?" I feel pure sadness and upset run over me as I take in a breath, knowing this news will hurt my son so much to hear "son....I need to tell you something involving A....I mean Crystal" I keep nearly forgetting that Azura is here under a false name, Oliver stands up next to Marcus "what is it Mrs.B? Is she ok?" Tyra is then next to stand up next to my son "what's happening?" Marcus then looks at me, it was as if he knew it was going to be bad news but still he asks "what's up mom? Why do you look sad? What's going on?" I take a deep breath as I prepare to tell my son possibly heart breaking news "I need to sort out my staff" I begin, I then carry on "they let supplies get low including blood, this means her surgery to help save her life has been put on hold" he took it better than I thought, clearly shocked he asks "oh, wow, is that all?" I shake my head as I knew this next part he probably won't be so calm about "unfortunately not" I take a deep breath and sigh as I prepare to say the next part "she's bled too much, she needs a blood transfusion but..." Marcus finishes my sentence "she's O-" he said with upset clear in his eyes as he sits back down, Oliver and Tyra next to him I kneel in front of him to get to his level "yes, and that's the blood we've ran out of. My staff are trying all they can to find some, nut so far it's dead ends right now" I explain as calmly as I could, after hearing that though, Marcus was not so calm "NO! That can't happen, how is she going to survive? What are we meant to do?" Marcus says firing question after question with pain clear in his voice, but then a quiet little voice almost a whisper speaks up...it's Tyra, she so sweet and very timid "urm...I may be able to help, I hope so anyway" she begins catching all of our attention "I'm O-, I don't know if it would help, but I'm willing to donate blood if that helps" just then slight hope is in my son's eyes and in my heart, we may be able to save Azura after all, such a sweet soul Tyra is "really Ty? You'd do that?" Marcus asks in disbelief, then Tyra is quick to answer "hell yes, I wanna meet Crystal" They're may be hope after all "that would be great" I say happy that we will have some blood, hopefully it'll be enough to save Azura "we can only take 2 pints, but that should be enough until we can find somewhere to give us the amount we need" "I know where to go" Tyra says then she walks off, I watch her leave with a faint smile on my face. I sit next to my son where Tyra was sitting "well that fixes one issue" Marcus looks at me "out with it please mom" I take a deep breath knowing that it's guaranteed that he won't take this so well, but I need to tell him, it's killing me knowing what is going on, I just wish I could have adopted her but I also know she is a fighter, both metaphorically and physically but it still is hard for me, so I know it's going to be unbearable for my son "she's flatlined son, my best doctor Angelica Knight is working with other doctors to try and revive her. I'm going to help them now, she just lost too much but I won't let her die without a fight son" tears form in mine, Oliver's and my son's eyes "ok thanks mom" "I won't stop trying, but prepare yourself for worst case possible" "thanks Mrs. B" Oliver said as Marcus stood up and walked away, head facing the ground and left.

Oliver looks at me wiping the tear that escaped his eye "please bring her back, I believe you and your top doctors can" I place my hand on top of his "I'm not going to give up, she was like a daughter to me when she was younger and you don't give up on family, I'm going to go now, try and see what can be done" I say reassuringly. Just as I do a nurse comes running to me "what is it nurse?" I ask crossing my arms, then she brought music to my ears "we managed to find a hospital who is going to send us 20 bags of O- blood" "that's good, how long?" I ask feeling hopeful that we can save Azura "30 minutes, that's providing traffic isn't bad, they said they'll have sirens going. If traffic is bad it'll be an hour tops" "nowhere closer?" I sigh, the nurse shakes her head "not to my knowledge, as far as I know that's the only hospital willing to give us any, and that amount" I shake my head "fine, ok, I'm heading up to the operating room now" "ok, sorry about this mess up" the nurse says, I stand up "just go and get ready to bring the blood" I command. The nurse nods her head slightly then says "yes boss" and with that she left, I sigh again "I just hope Tyra's blood will be enough to buy us enough time, IF we can bring her back" Oliver stands up and says "I believe in you Mrs. B" I smile at my son's friend "thanks Oliver" with that Oliver left, I assume to go and try to find my son or Tyra I don't know, but non the less I turn on my heel and leave to go to the operating room to try and see if any success had been made.
