Zack My heart trembled as Zim’s small hands reached for my head. I bent slowly, letting him hold me, and I felt the warmth of his tiny hands clutching my hair. Every nerve in me buzzed with a mixture of fear, guilt, and hope. “Would you… still want to hug me when I’m back to human form, you didn't look scared?” I asked, my voice low and trembling. His answer came sure. “Maybe I wasn’t.” “You should have been.” He thought about it, then shook his head. “Nah. If I die out here, at least I got to ride a werewolf.” I let my arms slacken but didn’t let go. Embarrassment pricked me raw. “Don’t call it that. It’s not… cool.” “Are you kidding? It’s the coolest s**t in the world.” That made me laugh, a real laugh, and it cracked the air open. “You’re messed up, Zim.” He only grinned wider.
