When I woke up, the first thing I noticed wasn’t the light, it was the clean smell , expensive, like the air itself had been filtered through money. My eyes blinked open slowly, adjusting to the soft glow of a chandelier that didn’t belong in any hospital I’d ever been in. The sheets under my skin were silk, my body swallowed by their smoothness.
