Chapter Fifteen

1724 Words
Just another freaky dream that I’m really hoping wasn’t a vision. Although now that I know the truth, I should probably let my sister know about it. I just don’t want her to worry. Once I’m dressed and ready for the day, I make my way past Jeremy’s room, but stop for a sec when I notice him drawing something. With a smile on my face, I continue downstairs to find Elena and Jenna. Skylar: “Hey, did either of you see Jeremy with his sketch pad?” Elena: “Yeah, he’s finally making some progress. Just don’t say anything.” Skylar: “Of course. Don’t want him to revert now.” Elena looks at her phone and drops it into her bag, clearly unhappy. Jenna: “You and Stefan? Update?” Elena: “He knows how I feel and where I stand, and I know where he stands, but it doesn’t matter. He’s leaving, moving away.” Jenna: “Where’s he going?” Elena: “I’ve stopped asking questions. The answers get scary.” Skylar: “Of course they do with mystery guys like him.” Elena opens the door as the three of us leave together. Jenna: “Yours leaves. Mine returns.” Skylar: “Logan?” Jenna: “He’s back. I didn’t let him pass the front door.” Elena: “I hope you slammed it in his face.” Jenna: “Ah, medium slam.” Elena: “Three-strike rule, Jenna. You’re not even allowed to watch the news.” Jenna: “Exactly, no more Logan ‘Scum’ Fell.” Skylar: “May he burn in hell. He can wish all he wants, but it’s not happening.” We chuckle together as we get into our cars. When we get to school, we meet up with Bonnie and find Caroline roaming the halls with Matt. It seems almost couplie. Elena: “Did I miss something?” Bonnie: “They’ve been hanging out.” Skylar: “Since when? Why didn’t she tell us?” Elena: “Kind of weird, don’t you think?” Bonnie: “She needs someone nice like him, as opposed to a homicidal vampire like Damon.” Skylar: “That’s fair. Honestly, they look cute together.” Elena: “Yeah. How are you doing with all that, Bonnie?” Bonnie: “I’m freaked out. Damon attacked me. I could be dead right now, but I’m also grateful.” Skylar: “Grateful?” Bonnie: “To Stefan. He saved my life, and…[Elena is clearly uncomfortable now as she removes her scarf.] Have you seen him?” We stop at Elena’s locker. Elena: “Not since he told me he was leaving. For all I know, he’s already gone.” Bonnie: “He wouldn’t leave without saying goodbye.” Skylar: “If he does, I hope Damon goes too, but I doubt it.” She pulls out some of her books and I go to my locker, getting my stuff. Elena: “He thinks he’s protecting me. Clean break and all that.” Skylar: “For what it’s worth, I don’t believe he and Damon are leaving anytime soon.” She closes her locker and the two of them look confused at me. Bonnie: “What do you mean?” Elena: “Did you see something?” I shut my locker as I sigh and turn to them. Skylar: “I think I had another vision. It looked like Damon was beating up Logan with a tire iron on the street at night. So obviously, I don’t know 100% when and where, but most likely soon.” Bonnie: “That’s pretty brutal.” Elena: “Oh my god. Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Skylar: “I was a little distracted by the whole Jeremy thing this morning.” Elena: “I get that, but you still should’ve told me.” Skylar: “Hopefully, they will stop, and there won’t be anything to tell you.” Bonnie: “If only we could be that lucky.” We end it there and head to our classes for the day. Once the day is finally over, I head to my car only to pass my sister while she’s talking to her kind-of-boyfriend. I thought he was leaving town, but apparently he just can’t stay away from her. Of course, I’m not about to leave her on her own with a vampire that I can’t be sure is trustworthy yet. I want to trust him, but I haven’t spent enough time with him to be sure. Although he did save Bonnie and Caroline, so I’ve warmed up to the idea of him. Skylar: “Elena, what’s going on here?” Elena: “Hey, Sky. Stefan came to warn us about another vampire.” Skylar: “Another one? What are you going to do?” Stefan: “Damon is tracking them right now. Look… I promised you the truth, so I wanted to tell you. I want you to be careful.” Elena nods and turns to me. Elena: “Sky, you should tell him what you saw.” Stefan: “What did you see?” I sigh as I sit next to my sister. Skylar: “We kind of already knew something like this might happen. I had a vision of Damon beating up Logan Fell with a tire iron. But I’m not sure if Logan is the vampire you’re looking for. He is Jenna’s ex, so there could be any number of reasons to beat him up.” Stefan: “I’ll look into it, just in case. Maybe we can get this handled quickly. Thank you for sharing your vision with me, Skylar.” I nod, feeling a bit unsure of myself if this is actually helpful or not. Skylar: “I’ll wait for you in the car.” Elena nods, before I leave the two of them to have a moment to themselves. Later on, we go back to school for career night with Aunt Jenna and Jeremy. At least being here means less chance of a vampire attack. I’m roaming around the different stalls, bored out of my mind. I’ve already been to the ones I wanted to look at, so now, I’m really just waiting for my siblings. I stop at a culinary stall, thinking about my dad. Before my parents died, I wanted to be a chef. My dad and I would cook together all the time. We even watched this show called Chopped and when we made something we’d declare ourselves the Chopped Champion. Nowadays, I cook to feel closer to him. I feel a hand touch my shoulder, snapping me out of my thoughts as I jump. I turn to see Elena. Elena: “Hey, are you alright?” Skylar: “Yeah, just lost in thought. What’s wrong? You look scared.” Elena: “You were right. Logan is a vampire, and he just abducted Caroline.” Skylar: “Oh my god, we have to help her.” I try to hurry past her, but she pulls me back by my arm. Elena: “Woah, hey, no way. We have to wait here. Stefan is going after her. He promised he'd save her.” I put my hand on the bracelet my mom gave me for my birthday. Anxiously fidgeting with it when my vision goes white. My vision is blurry as I find myself in a car, flipped over. My head is pounding as I look around, trying to figure out what’s going on, while a familiar brunette female is panicking beside me as she’s staring out the driver's side window. I look out to see a man whose body is snapping back into place as he gets up off the ground, before making his way toward us. All I can see are his shoes as he stops in front of her window, while she is screaming in terror. As I come to my senses, I find Elena and Stefan worriedly hovering over me. Elena: “Sky, are you okay? Was that another vision?” Skylar: “Yeah, it was. I’m fine, Lena. I promise.” She helps me steady myself as I get up. Elena: “What did you see?” Skylar: “It was blurry. I couldn’t make out a whole lot. Just a girl, upside down in a car, while an unknown person was walking toward her. She was so terrified, I could actually feel her fear.” She pulls me into her arms, helping me calm down from what I saw. Elena: “It’s alright. Everything is going to be okay. Maybe you should head home for now. I’m gonna go over to Stefan’s.” Skylar: “Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow. Wait, what about Caroline?” Elena: “Damon and Stefan saved her, and Stefan took her home. She’s safe.” Skylar: “Thank god. Alright, I’ll just head home. Please stay safe.” Elena: “I promise.” I give her one last hug before heading home with Aunt Jenna and Jeremy. Once home, I’m just so tired that I go straight to bed, only to have the same vision. However, this time, I see it is Elena in the car. The revelation wakes me up, instantly. I hurry to my car, speeding toward the Salvatore Boarding House, when suddenly, there’s a man in the road. I try to brake, but I was going so fast, I can’t stop in time, and crash into him. My car rolls as I scream, scared for my life. Thank god I was buckled, but now I’m stuck, upside down in my car, delirious because of the accident. Turning my head to look out the window, I see the man I ran over, disfigured on the ground. His body starts snapping back into proper place as he gets up, freaking me out. I can’t believe I just ran over a vampire. I try to wake up, thinking this has to be the vision again, there’s no way this is happening right now. I came out here to stop this from happening to Elena, but now it’s happening to me. He stalks towards me as I try uselessly to yank the buckle free, panicking more as he gets closer. His feet reach my car window and I scream at the top of my lungs.
