This morning is no different from the last few weeks; crazy dreams, and crazy mornings. I’d say the only thing that’s different was my siblings being questioned by the sheriff because Vicki left town. I knew nothing, but I went to the station to accompany them. Matt and Stefan were questioned as well. What’s really weird though, is, on my way out, I accidentally bump into Stefan and get some weird vision. A blonde girl with Stefan, in his room. She’s holding up a picture of Elena in some old-timey fashion, but the name at the bottom says Katherine. Stefan is smiling and appears to be having fun with the blonde girl. I feel someone shaking me as I come to again and find Stefan, looking at me very worried and confused. His hands are on my arms.
Stefan: “Skylar? Hey, Skylar. Are you okay?”
Skylar: “Huh? Oh, yeah. I’m fine.”
I step out of his grasp.
Stefan: “Your eyes went completely white. Are you sure you’re okay?”
I’m so lost and confused. Why would my eyes go white?
Skyar: “Yeah, I’m okay, Stefan. Nothing to worry about.”
I join my siblings and Aunt Jenna in the car. Looking back at Stefan, he appears to be watching us as we drive off. I would’ve loved to go home with them, but I have to go to the animal shelter, so I can get my volunteer hours. Elena and Jenna have been miserable all weekend with boy trouble, while Jeremy has actually been doing homework lately. It’s so weird to see him motivated like that. He’s seriously trying to catch up at school, and I’m proud of him. In the meantime, I’m still a bit freaked out about the whole thing when I bumped into Stefan and had that vision, so I’ve been avoiding touching anyone.
Unfortunately for me, avoiding touching people doesn’t stop me from having another weird dream about that blonde girl I’ve never seen before. This time, however, I see her playing pool with Stefan, having a drink with Damon, although she didn’t seem pleased about it, and speaking to Elena about Stefan at the Grill. She seemed very significant to Stefan, although I have no idea why. Caroline invited me to a party at the Grill, but I had to work tonight, so I told her I couldn’t go.
Luckily, I was wrong. My boss let me leave an hour early, and I decided to join her party. By the time I get there, it’s already in full swing. There are so many people, it’s hard to find the few I’m actually looking for. Finally, I see my sister, but I’m stunned to see her with the blonde girl from my dream. I feel like I know her, despite knowing I don’t, and it gives me the urge to talk to her as she's walking away from Elena. I try to ignore the urge and accidentally bump her shoulder as we pass each other. My vision fades to white, and I see her with fangs like I saw on Damon, but she’s getting shot at and suddenly, someone stabs her in the chest. I watch her sadly look up and ask why, right before she dies. Someone is touching my shoulder and when I come too, I see the girl and Stefan looking at me.
Stefan: “Skylar, are you okay?”
Skylar: “Y-Yeah, I’m okay. Thanks, Stefan. Who’s your friend?”
He looks over at the blonde girl.
Stefan: “This is Lexi. She’s an old friend of mine.”
I look sadly at her. I did just watch her die, and I’m not even sure if that was real or not, but it’s not like she’s dead, so hopefully not. She’s looking at me quizzically, like she’s trying to figure something out.
Stefan: “Lexi, this is Elena’s twin sister, Skylar.”
It’s almost as if a lightbulb goes off in her head, before she greets me, and we part ways. I join my sister, who somehow has some shots at her table.
Skylar: “Drinking in public. That’s shocking.”
Elena: “Hey, you made it. What happened to work?”
Skylar: “Finished early and my boss let me go early. So what are we drinking?”
Elena: “I don’t think you’re gonna want it. It’s tequila.”
Skylar: “Ooo, you’re right.”
I push the shot further from me.
Elena: “What happened with Lexi? You looked like you almost passed out or something.”
I sigh before nodding to myself.
Skylar: “If I’m going to tell anyone, it might as well be you. I don’t know why, but when I bumped into her, I thought I watched her die. It was so weird. She was stabbed in the chest and looked so sad. It felt so real, but it obviously wasn’t, or she wouldn’t be here.”
She looks terrified and worried as she puts a hand on mine, trying to comfort me.
Elena: “Oh my god. Are you okay? You seem pretty shaken up by it.”
I take a deep breath as I nod, and accidentally look over to see Lexi looking at me. I quickly turn my gaze back to my sister.
Skylar: “I’ll be alright. Maybe I just need a drink or some distraction to calm my nerves.”
She nods, still worried as ever. I walk around trying to find one of my friends. I find Tyler at one of the pool tables, and he calls me over to join him. We take two shots together, and I’m almost floored. I’m swaying a bit as I try to aim my pool stick. I guess I forgot to eat before coming. I notice a couple of cops and Caroline’s mom escorting Lexi out and Elena and Stefan are trying to go after them, but get stopped at the door. I excuse myself from the game with Tyler and go after them. By the time I catch up to them outside, I see Stefan covering Elena’s mouth while they are hiding and watching something.
I hear gunshots and when I see what’s going on, I’m completely stunned in place. I can’t make a sound or move at all while I watch the scene unfold just like earlier, except I’m further away, and I see Damon stab Lexi with a stake.
Elena: “Skylar, what are you doing here?”
I can’t register anything Elena is saying, but when she stands in front of me, I’m finally able to say something in my shocked state.
Skylar: “It’s the same.”
Stefan: “What’s the same?”
Skylar: “I’ve seen this.”
Elena realizes what I’m saying and tells Stefan.
Elena: “When she bumped into Lexi earlier, she watched her die. I didn’t know this is what she meant.”
Skylar: “This isn’t the first time.”
Elena: “What do you mean? Have you seen other things that came true?”
I can’t seem to respond. It’s terrifying to think of everything I’ve written in my journal. What if it all came true, and I just didn’t know about it?
Skylar: “I have to go.”
I run away from her and Stefan, as they call after me. Ignoring their pleas, I go home and look through all the things I’ve written. Vampires can’t possibly be real. It’s too bizarre. But a few of these have come true as far as I know. What if they all happened without me knowing anything about it? I don’t want it to be true. Why do I have to be the one seeing these things? If it’s all true, that means Stefan and Damon must be vampires. I shove my journal in the bottom drawer of my desk and go sit in the shower, hoping the hot water will help me calm down and forget all of this for a while.
