I drank in the streets as we passed. Jared looked over me, my arms tight across my stomach, my hair layered and spread over me, and lowered the air conditioning after another of my shivers. He thought it was because I was cold and I wanted to laugh at his foolishness then I wanted to wallow in how bitter I'd already grown. The car warmed and I shivered again. Shivered as a ghost hand of my attacker slid across my thighs, down my neck. A tightening sensation on my bicep made it flex. Hands, hands teased my body, whispered threats against my skin. As we drove on, Jared maintained his stony demeanor. The streets transformed from urban to inanely suburban and slowly, the shadows crawled over me, nipped and picked at my skin.
