I knew I was alone before I even realized I was awake. The warmth at my back, heat tangled with my legs was gone, leaving nothing more than a hint of Tom's rustic scent in the air around me. The hands on my torso, the ones that held me through the night. They were gone too. There must be something wrong with me. The room was shrouded in darkness despite my feeling completely rested. It couldn't still be night - could it? No. I flipped a button on the metal nightstand recognizing the tech. A mechanical whirring and blackout drapes reminded me that the wall behind me was made entirely of glass. Indirect light floated in, leaving a warm glow across my skin. No sign of Tom.
