A sleek black car owned by Camila glided with a smooth halt in front of the mansion Alessia and Thomas shared. Alessia identified the gold gate, and the elegant and sophisticated design of the building, but it no longer felt like home to her. She intended to get rid of it when it fully became hers after they finalized their divorce. Among all the things she would receive after she legally divorced her husband, it was the only thing that would constantly make her remember what she went through in her calamitous marriage, and she didn’t need that.
“Are you sure you don’t need me to help you with your things?” Camila asked Alessia as she opened the car door. Her face is etched with worry. “I could stay and help you pack your belongings.”
Alessia shook her head “I couldn’t make you do that, Camila.” Alessia refused gently as she stepped out of the car. “You were summoned to work for something important. You shouldn’t bother yourself much about me, I’ll take a cab when I’m done.”
“You’re sure? It wouldn’t be a problem if I skipped what I’m going to do at the office” Camila said as she handed Alessia’s handbag to her, and Alessia forced herself to muster a weak smile so her friend would be less concerned. She would have been more depressed without Camila’s support, what a friend!
“I’m sure my love, don’t be late to your appointment,” Alessia replied. Camila sent a kiss her way before reversing the car and driving away.
For a few moments, Alessia couldn’t go in as she stood in front of the gate. She later walked in and did what she had come to do. Alessia has been hiding at Camila’s house since the incident happened two days ago, to avoid having contact with Thomas and his family. Alessia finally had a conversation with the man who broke her heart yesterday. Throughout the conversation on the phone call, it sounds like Thomas doesn’t care or have any interest in her anymore. They agreed on the time she would come and get her belongings in their house. He stopped using the sweet compliments he uses when speaking to her like “Sweetheart” and “Darling”.
Thomas had divulged to her that he’d slept at the hotel the night he handed her the divorce paper, and came back home when he realized she hadn’t returned home. They agreed Thomas shouldn’t be at home when Alessia came because she told him she did not want to see his face. She rushed in quickly when she realized thirty minutes had passed the agreed time. “ it was about eleven minutes walk from the gate to get to the huge elegant glass door at the entrance of the home. Alessia pressed her thumb at the Fingerprint reader near the side of the door and it opened up Automatically. “Ma…madam”, a maid tidying up the living room, stuttered.
How are you, Kate? Alessia asked the lady with a smile on her face.
The maid just stood still while the duster she was holding fell on the ground. “Don’t mind me. I only came to pick up a few of my things, and Thomas also was aware I was stopping by.” She said as she moved past her quickly. A choked gasp escaped her lips as she saw Alessia's feet pound the stairs as she hurried upward, her bag held tight in her fist, its strapped digging into her palm, heading straight into the master bedroom she shared with Thomas.
“Ah.. ah stop baby” a loud sound from the master bedroom and Alessia stopped. It was a lady's voice.
“Hope it’s not what I’m thinking” Alessia's brain was a battlefield, with thoughts clashing and competing for dominance. Another loud moan came out again, this time the voice sounded familiar. Alessia quickly rushed forward and pushed the door as hard as she could, her eyes blazed with hot, intense anger.
Thomas…….? In the middle jumbo-size bed, Thomas was knotted with an Auburn-faced lady who happens to be Alessia’s step-sister. She was terrible and deceitful, a woman who had been tormenting Alessia’s life since they had become family, Justina Harry.
She held back her tears this time as Thomas had betrayed her again and again. If she had a gun at that moment she’s ready to pull the trigger on her emotions. Thomas flew off the bed immediately he noticed Alessia and quickly looked for something to cover up, but it was too late. Alessia had seen everything that was going on.
Justina was just on the bed covering her bare chest with her arms. She never regretted what she had done as a bright smile filled up her face. She had no concept of guilt or remorse.
Ale….Alessia? Thomas struggled to rap himself with a towel. W—what are you doing here?
Her eyes swept over him like he was an insignificant speck, you were not supposed to be at home as I’m here to park my belongings, remember? The worst you could’ve done is come home with your mistress. I….was… Thomas tried to defend himself, his forehead and chest were damp with sweat, which dropped steadily downwards. I thought you were not coming anymore since the time has passed.
She flicked her eyes up in irritation. “Are you serious? I was only late for a few minutes; is that an excuse for you to come home and sleep with my step-sister on my own matrimonial bed?”
As if a signal was given, Justina burst into tears. “I’m so sorry Alessia, I never intended to let you find out this way” While she struggled to wipe up the tears rolling down her cheek more of it kept on dropping. “He came and explained to me how you have been neglecting him, I didn’t mean to fall in love with him. You know how your coldness is palpable, Alessia. She moved closer to her where she sat at the edge of the bed and gave her a scorching slap. The sound resounded in the room. From her side-eye, she saw Henry recoiled. Good, let anxiety haunt him. If he expecting tears from her this time, he was sorely mistaken.
Presently, everything on Alessia’s head is how to make life miserable for both of them and make them suffer how she’s suffering now. Maybe later, when the adrenaline had worn off, tears might flow when she’s with Camilla. But now she needs to be composed. She would never let her wicked step-sister know she was really hurt by the current situation
