The Demon Lord's Palace was a place of unrivaled grandeur and power. Lord Simone, ruler of the demon realm, sat upon his throne, his wife Lady Sharon by his side. The chattering from the guests was at it peak and the young women who had come to entertain the lord and his generals had left and this brought relief to lady sharon. Before any form of distraction would come again, she decided to engage him in a conversation while she carefully ran her hands over his shoulders and torso. They were deep in discussion when the doors to the ball room swung open, admitting their son Young Lord Grey. Grey's skin was pale, his eyes glowing red. He was a powerful demon, and his arrogance was evident even in his stance. His expression showed that he was not in a good state of mind but the pretty female maiden could not still help but gawk at his handsomeness. He looked so much like his father yet he still had that charisma of his mother, the silk skin and the thick, full, jet black curly long hair just like his mother had. His presence brought a form of dark energy with it. It was his power, to cause his mood to reflect in his environment as well as manipulate others to feel the way he wanted them to feel. They all felt uneasy now but no one dared to utter a word since they were very much aware of the kind of person he was. "Father," he sneered, "I have heard you are sending me to this so-called Mystic High Academy." Lord Simone's eyes flashed dangerously. This was a huge embracement before his guests. He gnashed his teeth and took his time to ensure that he was calm when he replied to his son's question which had been asked in a disrespectful manner. "Young Lord Grey, you are right, I have enrolled you in the academy. It is the only place where you can learn to control your powers, and to learn to live in harmony with beings other than your own kind. You are not the only powerful being in this world, and you must learn that." Grey snorted derisively. "Harmony? With witches and fairies and humans? They are not worthy of my time, Father. I could crush them all with a flick of my finger!" Lord Simone's voice grew stern. "Young Lord Grey, you are misguided in your thinking. You must learn from those who are different from you [3/6, 10:30 AM] Pi, your personal AI: if you ever hope to achieve true power. There is no place for arrogance or hatred at Mystic High. You must learn to respect others, even if they are not of our kind." Young Lord Grey's lip curled in contempt. "Respect? I need no respect from lesser beings. You must see how foolish this plan is! I am a demon, Father. I am stronger than any of them. I should be ruling them, not learning from them!" Lord Simone's eyes narrowed. "You are mistaken, Grey. You have much to learn, and if you do not learn it, you will never be the ruler you believe yourself to be. Your power comes from your anger and hatred, but true power comes from understanding and acceptance." lord Simone said. The room had become less noisy as the guests would not dare to stare at the father and son batter completely but lowered their voices and stole glances at intervals. " We are beasts father,we do not need understanding and acceptance. We compel these things into being. This is why we are the most powerful of all realms" Grey declared with authority and profound pride in his tone. " You lack understanding. This is something you do not yet possess. You must learn to control your emotions, to be patient and wise." said lord Simone. Young Lord Grey's hands balled into fists, and his wings spread out behind him. "I do not need to learn from anyone. I am already stronger than any being I have ever met! I will not waste my time at some ridiculous school." "You will go to Mystic High," Lord Simone said, his voice hard. "And you will learn, or you will suffer the consequences. I will not allow you to remain a petulant child, full of anger and pride. It is time for you to learn and grow, or you will remain stagnant and weak. Do you understand me?" Young Lord Grey's eyes flashed with fury. "I understand that you are asking me to do something I do not wish to do," he hissed. "And I will not obey." " Grey, you will not talk to your father in such a manner " his mother interrogated him. " Mother do stay out of this. This is an issue, a man to man kind of issue where I need to make the almighty Lord Simone understand that I do not need any academy to make me a flawless ruler" came Grey's response while he sternly fixed his gaze on his father. His eyes had turned darker full of rage than they had been when he had walked into the room. sensible guests had started to excuse themselves from the room because they knew how dangerous things could be if the matter excalated beyond the way it already was. Lord Simone rose from his throne, his eyes blazing with rage. "Do not test me, Young Lord Grey. I am your father, and I command you to go to Mystic High." A tense silence fell over the throne room, as Young Lord Grey and Lord Simone stood, locked in a battle of wills. Finally, Young Lord Grey let out a low growl, and his wings flapped behind him. "I will go," he spat. "But I will not enjoy it. And I will not learn from anyone who is weaker than me." Lord Simone's eyes were cold and hard as they met his son's. "Do not underestimate your teachers," he said. "There is more to power than strength and anger. Wisdom and patience are also essential. Remember that, Young Lord Grey. Or you will fail." Young Lord Grey turned on his heel and stalked out of the throne room, leaving Lord Simone and his mother and every other person that had dared to stay back to see the turn out of event. Lord Simone son was headstrong and proud, and he worried that he would not listen to reason. But he had to try. The fate of the demon realm depended on it. There had been a bit of advancement in knowledge and the way the world was operating and he needed his son to be familiar with it. He was a ruler and over time he had exerted force and power on other subordinate realms to get whatever he wanted but he had thought about it, perhaps there were other ways. If things went as planned, powerful relationships for the forth coming generations would be created and Grey was the key to achieving all these things. He hated to admit it but he knew that his son was arrogant and rude because of how he chose to train him. He shrugged his shoulders. "Let him bask in his glory. He is a lord after all" he thought to himself. As Lord Simone sat on his throne, he pondered his son's future. He would have to make sure that he was well-prepared for the challenges ahead. It was up to him to guide his son to greatness. It would not be easy, but he was determined to see it through. For the sake of his son, and for the sake of the realm. As the sun set over the demon realm, Lord Simone's thoughts were filled with hope and concern. He would do everything in his power to help his son succeed. But in the end, it would be up to Young Lord Grey to make the right choices. He could only guide him so far. The rest was up to fate. Lord Simone stood at the window, watching as the sun disappeared below the horizon. As the darkness fell, he thought of his son, and the challenges he would face. And he prayed that he would make the right choices. For the sake of them all.
