The room of lord Grey was lavish, the bed piled high with furs and the tapestries on the walls depicting fearsome beasts of the wild. The embroidery designs on his bed sheets and curtains had been carefully chosen by his mother. The young lord, Grey, sat alone, fuming with anger at his father's decision. How could he, a proud and powerful young man, be forced to attend a school for lesser creatures? It was an insult to his honor, and he could not abide it, he should have stood his ground and said no as well as wait to see the worst his father could do to him.
As he paced the room, he was interrupted by the entrance of a young lady, a maiden of surpassing beauty, clad in silks and jewels. While she walked in, Grey rolled his eyes in apathy. He knew that his mother had sent her to some how serve as a compensation of some kind. She was a servant of his mother's court and she had been sent to soothe his temper.
"Young Lord Grey," she said, with a voice as sweet as honey, "let me help you forget your troubles. There is no need to rage so. Come, sit with me and let me comfort you." She said this as she walked further into the room. She was trying to maintain her self composure because she was very much aware of the fact that if she didn't and allowed the young lord to sense it, he would prey on it for pleasure.
Grey stared at her sternly bearing no facial expression. He would not be consoled especially not by some random maid who felt she was pretty enough to make him forget about his problems. As far as he was concerned, she served no purpose,he had had many of her kinds in the past and he was sure he was not in the mood for any form of sooting from her.
"Get out, wench!" he snarled, his eyes flashing with anger. "I want none of your seductive tricks. I am not some weak-willed fool to be swayed by your charms!"
The maiden was unperturbed, her voice soft and low. "I am not trying to seduce you, my lord," she said, approaching him slowly. "I simply want to help you relax and let go of your anger. Let me massage your temples, or fetch you a drink. I only wish to help."
Grey's eyes narrowed, but he could not deny that his head ached from the force of his anger. Perhaps a massage would do him some good. He sat down on the edge of his bed, and the maiden began to gently rub his temples. "Does that feel better?" she asked, her voice a soothing balm.
Grey let out a grunt and then slowly he began to feel his anger subside, his muscles relaxing under the maiden's touch. He closed his eyes and let himself sink into the bed, allowing himself to drift away from his troubles. As he lay there, he felt a strange sensation come over him, a strange, tingling feeling of peace. He found himself being impressed by her skills. If he had to go to mystic high then she would have to come with him to soot his headaches because he was sure that there would be a lot of it.
"There, now," the maiden said, her voice like a caress. "You are feeling calmer, are you not? Let me tell you a story, to ease your mind further. Have you heard the tale of the ancient gods of the beast realm?
The maiden began to spin a tale of the ancient world, a time when the gods of this realm walked among men. The story told of their evasions and coups , of battles won and lost, of triumphs and tragedies. As the maiden spoke, Grey found himself drawn into the tale, carried away on the wings of her words.
He felt as though he were there, witnessing the events unfold before him.
Slowly, he drifted into a deep sleep, the words of the tale still echoing in his mind. And as he slept, he dreamed of strange and wondrous things, things he had never seen before.
In his dream, he found himself standing on a mountain peak, looking out over a vast and endless sea. And on the horizon, he saw a figure approaching, walking on the waves as if they were solid ground. The figure drew closer, and he saw that it was a woman, clad in robes of white, her eyes shining like stars. Her hair was as red as a blazing hot flame yet her skin white and cold. She was the prettiest being he had ever seen. Her lips were like the color of a juicy red cherry fruit and her eye lashes long and thick. She smiled charmingly with her cheeks flushing red then she reached out a hand to him, and he took it, feeling a warmth like the sun on his skin.
Then the dream shifted, and he found himself in a great hall, surrounded by warriors, all clad in armor of gold and silver.
And at the head of the hall, he saw a great throne, upon which sat a king, his crown blazing like a second sun. He was in a different realm. He knew nothing about the kind of beings from this realm, his senses were unfamiliar to them.
The king rose from his throne and approached the young lord his eyes filled with a deep and ancient wisdom. "Welcome, traveler," he said, his voice echoing like thunder. "You have journeyed far to reach this place. What brings you here?"
Grey hesitated, unsure of what to say. Then, he remembered the maiden's words, and spoke them aloud. "I have come seeking knowledge and understanding," he said. "I wish to learn the secrets that binds all realms. I have come to establish peace as well as gain supremacy over all realms". He demanded authoritavely.
The king's eyes widened, and he nodded, as if he had been expecting this answer. There was silence in the room and then all of a sudden, the king erupted in laughter. Grey felt confused because he did not expect this but he remained quiet.
"You have come to the right place," he said. "For in this hall, you will find the knowledge you seek. But it will not be easy, and it will require great effort on your part. You do not look like one who can persevere however I will ask you; Are you willing to do what is necessary?"
Grey nodded, his determination steeling his resolve. "I am willing to do whatever it takes," he said, his voice ringing with confidence. "I will not stop until I have found the truth."
And with that, the king stood up from his throne ordering that no one followed them, led him to a great library.....
With a loud crash, the door to Grey's room burst open, and he was jolted awake, his eyes wide with anger. But when he saw who had entered, his expression softened. It was his best friend, Olive, another beast like himself. Olive was a handsome man,a ladies man tall with broad shoulders and a stream lined torso. The maid was no longer in the room when he opened the door. She had left Lord Grey to sleep. Olive had eyes piercing green.
He bounded onto Grey's bed with out an invitation.
"You look peaceful. It should not be so you wicked demon!" he said, his thundering voice echoeing in the room. He had a grin on his lips
"Why did you come to annoy me this night?" Grey question sounding irritated but keeping an expressionless face.
"I have wonderful news! I am also going to Mystic High, a school where beasts like us can learn all manner of magic...
"I am wondering why you sound excited about this. Here I am feeling upset that I have been sent to mystic high but here you are sounding excited. What tricks do you have up your sleeves? I know you too well. You have a scheme to execute don't you?. Lord Grey questioned with a smile which revealed his canines that were sharp as blade. They glittered under the influence of the dimly lit candles.
"I will learn so many amazing things, and I will make powerful alliances. And who knows, maybe I will even find a special mate!" He gave Grey a playful nudge, his eyes shining with and his lips bearing a cocky smile.
Grey's initial annoyance at being woken from his slumber faded as he listened to his friend's words.
" Tell me your true intensions concerning your going to Mystic High?" he said, sitting up straighter.
" Fine, I have heard that war generals and other realms will be sending their children there. My plans are simple, create alliance, Capitalize on them and overthrow all those I can over throw when the time comes. Secondly, I have heard of the greatest wizard, Guaz. There is a lot to learn from him. So much that could be handy for my succession in future."
" Do you have to go there to get all this done? " Grey questioned apathetically.
" Yes. oh yes! you see, I am also going there for revenge and guess who is going to be my accomplice "He said with a smirk rubbing his palms together as he set his gaze sternly on Grey
