It had been Lord Simone's wish to accompany his son to the Academy but he was unavoidably absent leaving them with lord Andrew who was more than glad to go with them. He had a couple of acquaintances and he felt it would be a nice opportunity to catch up with them. Olive and Grey on the other hand could not care less about the academy. They had an apathetic facial expression. Olive had been excited at first but now what he had wanted to do seemed exhausting.
They approached the gates of Mystic High, Grey and Olive could not help but be uninterested but somehow they could not help but marvel at the sight before them. The school was unlike anything they had ever seen, with soaring towers and lush gardens. The gates were made of sparkling crystal, and a pair of majestic dragons stood guard on either side. As they entered, they were greeted by a tall, white-haired wizard, he had a face bearing no expression at all. With his little eyes and big round spectacles he ran his eyes over then from head to soul and back then turning to face lord Andrew he said."It has been decades we last met hasn't it?"
Somehow he spoke to lord Andrew with some kind of familiarity and boldness. It was very rare to observe things like this since Grey's grand father was one who commanded a lot of fear and respect even from beings who have stayed many years ahead of him.
"Guaz,is this how you unite with a friend?" came lord Andrew's reply. There was silence and then the two men erupted in laughter.
It was a strange scene to witness for the two young lords who stood till bearing no expression on their faces but bearing more than a thousand questions coupled with confusion in their mind.
" Ehemmm" Guaz cleared his throat while adjusting his spectacles and then turning to face the two young beast with a long face. "What took you so long,You ought to have been here before now" He said not directing his question to anyone in particular.
"A little barriers here and there, you must permit Guaz" lord Andrew said in their defense.
"We don't tolerate that here in Mystic high school. We learn discipline and punctuality. With time as you too begin to blend in,I will not tolerate any excuses or wrong behaviour from you.
While Guaz said this, Grey clenched his fist and began to boil with anger. He felt the reprimanding was not necessary and he had to face this now just because his father had sent him here.
" You will not fume at me while I scold you young man"Guaz said with a stern expression on his face making it dawn on Grey that he could read mind.
" cause him"he muttered within his breath and got no response from Guaz but a scoff.
"Let us start over again. This is Guaz my friend and your to be supervisor" lord Andrew said to the two young lords.
"I am lord Grey. You definitely have heard of me many times." Grey said with an air of authority but only got another scoff from Guaz. Guaz adjusted his spectacles and then ran his hand over his long white beard and said to them." come with me now ".
He led them through the halls of the school, walking side by side with lord Andrew and the two young lords behind them. They spoke in whispers and Olive tried as much as he could to depict what they were saying but eventually gave up.
They passed classrooms filled with all many students from different realms and they got cold stares from majority.
They kept walking till they met a girl by the hall way.
"Liliana come now,Guaz ordered and she did as instructed immediately. With a warm smile, she greeted lord Andrew" It is an honor to stand so close to you lord Andrew" she said still bearing the smile.
" You know what to do. I have weightier matters to attend to "Guaz said to her and then left quietly with lord Andrew. The whispers between The two men continued as they kept walking away till they were out of sight.
The luna girl was stunningly beautiful, with long silver hair and pale blue eyes that seemed to shimmer in the light. She introduced herself as Liliana, daughter of Alpha Harri of the Crescent Moon pack. Liliana led Olive and Grey to the library, a vast and cavernous room filled with books of every shape and size. She showed them the history section, the poetry section, and even the secret section, hidden behind a wall of magic. As they explored, Grey and Olive could not help but be impressed by Liliana's knowledge of the library and its contents even if they did not show it.
"Welcome to Mystic High," Guaz appeared from nowhere and it made Olive fidget a bit. It was quite a surprise by what he had just done "I trust you will find your time here to be both educational and enjoyable."
Olive was a little nervous in the presence of such a powerful figure, but Grey seemed unfazed. "Thank you for having us, Guaz," Olive said, bowing slightly.
Just like that, Guaz vanished again and now Grey began to think that there was something wrong with Guaz.
"Well, let's get started, then," Liliana said trying to take their minds of what had just happened. She pulled out a book from one of the shelves and opening it to a random page. "There's so much to learn, so we'll start with the basics. Tell me, what do you know about the four elements?"
Grey's eyes showed disappointment . He expected something intense and fierce not some kind of elementary things.
Olive on the other hand chimed in, adding his own knowledge to the conversation. Liliana listened intently, occasionally interjecting to correct a small detail or provide additional information. The lesson went on for hours, and as the sun began
to set, the two of them were still discussing the intricacies of elemental magic. Eventually, Guaz returned, interrupting the conversation. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but it's time for dinner," he said. " come immediately for dinner"he ordered.
Grey and Olive said nothing but just followed him. They followed Guaz and Liliana through the winding corridors of the school, their minds racing with disappointment and their body tiredness with growling stomachs. When they reached the dining hall, they were greeted by a bustling crowd of students, all chattering and laughing as they
filled their plates with food. Guaz led them to a table, where they were greeted by a handful of students, all eager to make their acquaintance. "These are a few of our best and brightest," Guaz said, introducing them to the group. "They'll be more than happy to answer any questions you might have."
Suddenly, the door to the dining hall burst open, and a group of students entered, clad in black robes with glowing red sigils on their chests. They moved with a dangerous grace, their eyes scanning the room as they strode to a table in the back. Liliana's face darkened, and she leaned in close to Grey and Olive. "Those are the Alphas," she whispered. "They're not to be trusted. They've been known to steal power from other students, and they're always looking for new recruits."
Grey and Olive exchanged a look, finally something exciting, Grey thought to himself.
Liliana continued, her voice low and urgent. "They have an agenda, and they'll do anything to achieve it. Be careful around them, and don't trust anything they say. They're skilled in the art of manipulation."
Grey and Olive nodded, unable to tear their eyes away from the Alphas. They were whispering among themselves, their hands moving in strange patterns as they cast furtive glances around the room.
When they turned, they could not find Guaz with them. Grey rolled his eyes and wondered how he would get use to Guaz habit of appearing and disappearing impromptu .
There in the hall, they witness this pack surrounding a student, their hands crackling with energy. The student was cowering, clearly afraid. "We warned you," one of the Alphas hissed, their eyes glowing red. "You shouldn't have crossed us."
"Please, I didn't mean to," the student stammered, but it was too late. The Alphas raised their hands, their fingers curled like claws.
