when lord Andrew heard Lucia speak a sense of relief came to him but the fact that the first thing she mentioned was him not bring Sharon to her made him realize that he was in for a debate.
" That is not the case"he said to her trying to come up with a defense.
" so what is the case lord Andrew? You took Hazel and then you didn't allow me to see Sharon..."
" I never did. It is just that you never came to see her" He interrupted her. He knew that what he was saying made no sense because truly he had restricted her from coming. Spells were for witches but somehow he had found found that could keep a witch away. He had done that because of the the fear of her coming to take his most valued possession away from him.
"What did you expect me to do?" he questioned trying to defend himself.
"To be a honourable man that every one thinks you to be" came Lucia's abrupt reply.
"All Is fair in love and war"
"Did it really get to that point. Did we not have a deal? I would never have taken her away from you. All you had to do was just let me see her. " said Lucia with a cold voice as she turned her gaze away from him.
"You would have or rather have been seeing her anyways. You have the powers to make that happen. What was the difference?" said lord Andrew sounding unyielding.
"Why have you come after all these years?" Lucia said trying to change the courses of argument.
"Sharon needs your help" he said setting his gaze to fall to his toes.
"I don't think so" she said as she began to walk away in an opposite direction.
"Lucia you are the only one that can help. You have the spells and potions " lord Andrew said as he began to feel helpless and impatient.
" What is in it for me"she said still with that cold tone..
" We had a deal remember. You would take one of Sharon's children as your own ".
" Can a barren woman bear children "said Lucia with a scoff.
" You speak so coldly of your own grandchild "
" adopted "Lucia tried to give a useless correction.
" Did Hazel never meant anything to you? " said lord Andrew turning to face her.
There was no response from Lucia. She had stopped in her tracks and had set her entire gaze on the hem of her garment. She studied it intensively under the deem light from moon. It was almost morning and the moon had gradually begin to disappear. Silence lingered while lord Andrew tried to remain as patient as possible hoping that Lucia would have a change of heart.
"I am sorry for keeping her away. You would have done the same" said lord Andrew begging and trying to justify his actions.
"What have you learnt so far?" she said to him with a disappointed expression and shrugging of her shoulders. She had brought the hem more closer to her face and Andrew could only wonder what she was doing with it.
"lord Simone is losing his patience. He will take another maiden as a mistress soon. My daughter will lose her place of power once the maiden has birthed a child for the young lord. My daughter will be maltreated and I am very sure of this. Lucia,we have not been on the right foot but for the sake of Sharon,we need to keep our grievances aside and work together to see to it that she is placed permanently in her right ful place" He said to her hoping that he sounded very convincing.
"There is no point stricking any deal with you because it is a total waste if time" she said exhaling deeply and rolling her eyes afterwards.
"Well?" said lord Andrew beholding a glimpse of hope .
"I will Help her conceive a child." she finally said to the lord . It was what he wanted to hear afterall.
"t....t... thank you so much" he said to her in excitement.
It was funny to see a war lord powerful and fierce in all his glory becoming submissive and humble before a witch. one whom was taken to be nothing among all realms.
"If she bears a son,you can take all the children and if she bears a daughter as first child then you get to keep. However, you must know that your loyalty is now with the witches as you owe us this one" she said to him as she dropped the hem again only to pick up the twig which lord Andrew had been using to draw lines on the ground.
"I accept" he said in excitement. There was no other joy not even a success in battle which could supercede what he felt now.
Lucia vanished immediately leaving the old lord alone and unprotected.
One his part,he was happy that his daughter was going to to enjoy her possession as a happy wife whose needs would continue to be taken cared of .
He whistled in joy and heart full of hope and he walked away from the forest till he met with Greg.
When he saw him, he felt like patting the young man on his shoulders and telling him immediately that he was going to be a grand father but he also knew that it was expected of him to wait till everything was finalized.
News came soon that Sharon had conceived and it brought great joy and peace to him. He had rushed to his treasure store to find and expensive ointment and thousands pieces of silk fabrics with intentions of appreciating Lucia but she never accepted them. It made lord Andrew worry that Lucia had something up her sleeves but he would not let that bother him. lord Simone had become nicer to his wife again and the romance had been rekindled. He too wanted to have his child in his arms as soon as possible.
Sharon was treated like an egg and if there was anything that was more fragile which required careful handling then it could have been compared to her. Her belly grew and so did the excitement till she finally went into labour.
lord Simone paced about uncontrollably. Every sound of distress she made made him feel more worried. This was the moment he had been waiting for and once he heard the sound of a baby, a broad smile played on his lips. It was so broad that it revealed his beautiful set of teeth and while he walked towards the room, a lady emerged with a smile.
"my lord" she said still with the smile on her face.
"What is it?" he questioned impatiently.
"A boy lord Simone" came her response.
"I have a son.... I have a son... finally!" he exclaimed as he walked into the room to see for him self.
The child grew and both of his parents spoiled him and so did his grandfather, lord Andrew. Who would not ,owing to the fact that it took so long for them to hear the cries of a baby.
"lord Andrew was glad that the deal had turned to work out in his favour however, he still went back to appreciate Lucia. indeed he owed her a lot.
lord Simone did not joke with his son. There was a time when a maid had not been careful enough to mix baby Grey's water properly. It had made him cry tossing him self to the ground and wailing uncomfortable with catarrh running down his nose and his eyes turning purple. She had tried to calm him down but it was to no avail. she knew what would happen when lord Simone found out and she feared for her life. Indeed lord Simone was furious when he learnt about it and ordered that she should be locked up for days with no food.
.The spoilt Grey had watched in pleasure when he rested his head on his father's shoulder and saw how she was punished for a skin that never got burnt.
The boy grew older and older and it was no doubt that he was growing up to becoming a very handsome and attractive man. People around the palace however knew something bad about him that would make him unapproachable and this was his character.
