CHAPTER ONE

I definitely wouldn't have cancelled my plans to join them at the company dinner if I had listened to my inner self but I was the reason the dinner was being hosted for. ***** ".. and done." I muttered and closed my computer shut. I looked at the clock just above my drawers but below my light bulb. It read 7am. I slipped into my hoodie and wore a jacket on it. The weather wasn't looking good. 'It will rain today' I thought. I took a last gulp from my coffee mug and picked up my tote bag. At the door step, I slipped my feet into my rubber shoes and headed out. I had not already locked my door but still sighed at my slow memory. I opened it once again and drew out my black umbrella. My lucky chart said to wear either black or yellow on a Monday for good luck and I couldn't remember purchasing a yellow umbrella. • Standing below the large sign fifteen minutes late, I mouthed, "San's Gadgets" then took a really deep breath. That was necessary. I pushed my chest out and walked into the bungalow building. The corridor that always appeared long to me had rectangular Pixar art drawings, a printer and a copier. The building had seven rooms or departments on the left and five rooms on the right with an office. Each room played a crucial role in the succes of this company. Working as an intern in the Marketing area has given me a lot of benefits. In three months, I've gained popularity as a YouTuber, and gained rewards for setting great standards for the company. "Early bird..." Webster sarcastically exhales. Webster used to be an intern here last year and has failed to enlighten us on her reason for being here again. Hardworking and talented in whatever she does, I have no intention of finding out the reason. "You talk like I raise kids," I replied. "Whoa! Someone woke up grumpy." "If it's not my favorite intern..." Joan praised. Joan, our supervisor, always carrying a mood that lit up a sour room. Her big doe eyes fitted perfectly on her face with cupid lips that always wore a light pink gloss, her caramel skin and a body a model would kill for. My cheeks turn red quickly and I avert her hug and walk straight to my spot. The entire room snickered in her embarrassment and I refused to peek at her well-being. She sighed. "Anyway, I got you a little reward for successfully carrying our company in your heart and boosting us to a total of a million views on the topic against 'Pornographic Acts" and we hope you do more," she announced gracefully. "A million?" I widen my eyes to the news. " Oh yes," she threw herself at my desk and input the company account on my YouTube app. It actually read a million views on the playlist. Other than this, we had two playlists from when I started as an intern here. I organized them perfectly and put more effort in them than I had put in this one but I have only been able to draw a maximum of 300k views. "A lot of people must really be against Porn." Mira read my mind as she walked in. Even I can't surpass Mira in lateness. She was just an intern but came to work after the company owner. "I deserve a reward as well. Not only did I boost the marketing process, I wrote out the script used." Matthew, one of the very few people who don't seem to like me in this company. He has always felt a need to take part in the reward of my hard work. "Matthew?" Joan turned with a contorted smile. "Yes. I deserve the same attention. He's not even the slightest bit, grateful for whatever it is you're rewarding him for." Joan chuckled and raised a brow at me, looked at Mira and Webster and back at Matthew. "Let's have dinner at the finest restaurant, just the six of us," she offered. Matthew never looked sadder. Instead of a reward, everyone gets a free meal. "Seems okay to me." He turned to his computer, not satisfied at all. "Let's have beer too," Nana contributed. Once it had to do with beer and sexy ladies, count Nana in. An earthy queen who always had a bindi and shiny jewelry on. "Yes, yes, beer," Joan assured. Time flew by and soon, the urge to come up with a plan to ditch this dinner celebration slowly died down. It was going to be a lucky day anyway because unlike last Monday, my yellow tie didn't get stuck in the shredder. • "When I first spoke with Krit, he was really cold. He doesn't like speaking..." Nana said, cutting herself short by taking another sip from the beer bottle. "Indeed, I hated him at first but we got along pretty well in the long run," Mira continued. "What was I like to you, Joan?" I asked. I like hearing reviews about my behavior once in a while. I didn't improve, but at least you could see the consistency. I only wanted to make sure I wasn't a weak boy my father always cursed at my mother for, saying her genes were too strong. "You seemed like a caged bird yearning for freedom. You....." "Joan, why do you always talk in parables?" Webster asked, causing everyone to laugh heartedly. "You were a really good person who didn't seem to show his emotions comfortably, that's all ," she said. " He gets all the praises and doesn't acknowledge any." Matthew said without raising his head. Matthew, for a boy, whines too much. Some matters he escalates are really meant to be girls stuff. He fights with me over everything. That's the act of one who mustn't be loved at home. " I need to use the restroom," I chipped in over their murmurs and stood up immediately without waiting for an answer. " Okay, Krit." That cute, seducing voice Nana always used whenever.... There, there she was, hovering above the table before us in an apron. The waiter had her hair in a high bun with shorts strands falling to her back. The connection: Nana's voice was intended to attract the waiter, or so she'd explain. I rolled my eyes and walked to the restroom. It reeked of alcohol and puke. The walls were spray painted and only one or two sinks seemed to be working. I leaned over a sink and sighed at my reflection in the mirror. ' I seem to happy.' " Oh yes, y- yess, ye-uh" What! "That's it Satoshi, jerk off..." the second person in the stall seemed to be praising the nonsense act going on in there. I instantly understood what was going on in there, and I couldn't resist the urge to ignore it and leave. I turned red again, but it was anger instead. I tried ignoring it and occupied the second stall to finish my business and leave. There's nothing wrong with two people jerking off to themselves, not until I heard, "You're almost to a thousand streams..." the second person assured. What! He was jerking off on live? Huh? No way!!
