Chapter 6 Disgusting?

528 Words
"Why...?" Olivia choked out, looking up at the man supporting her. "Tell me why?" He was her husband, her rock after her parents' death. But he had played her for a fool! Before the man could answer, the cumulative effect of the hours spent in the rain and the images flashing on the screen proved too much for Olivia. She fainted. Adrian's eyes darkened. Scooping her up in his arms, he carried her out of the room. "Call Nathan." "Yes, sir." Adrian took Olivia to Clivery Villa, a luxurious villa district in the city center. As they entered the house, a young man in a white coat, who had been sitting on the sofa, stood up. "Adrian." "Take care of her wounds." Adrian carried Olivia upstairs. He went downstairs to wait, lighting a cigarette. About half an hour later, Nanthan Evert came downstairs. "You've outdone yourself this time, Adrian. Finding her in such a situation, the odds were astronomical. If I'm not mistaken, she's the woman from those scandalous news articles, right?" "And I'm the 'other man,'" Adrian glanced at him. "Any other pressing observations, Doctor Evert?" Nathan chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Well, well, they say married women are the most fun!" "I gave her a sedative. She'll sleep soundly. Once she's recovered, bring her to the hospital for a checkup." With that, Nathan grabbed his medical kit and left. After the driver sent Nanthan away, he glanced at his vibrating phone. "Sir, we have news from the family." He reported, "They're asking if you've returned to the country." Adrian rose from the sofa. "I'll drive back. Find a few servants to look after her." This delicate flower, raised in a greenhouse, couldn't withstand the slightest storm. When Olivia regained consciousness, she found herself in an unfamiliar foreign-style room, dressed in a silk nightgown. The memories of the hotel room, the humiliation at the Austen Group, the sight of Nolan and Anna entangled on the screen... it all came flooding back. She had to escape this nightmare, to find Nolan and demand an explanation. Why had he orchestrated this elaborate scheme to frame her, to strip her of everything? She stumbled out of the room and wandered through the unfamiliar house. Finally finding the stairs, she missed a step and tumbled down. A strong arm shot out, catching her just in time. "Where were you planning on going?" A familiar, cool scent enveloped her. As her head cleared, she recognized the man who had caught her. The man from that night, the man who had shown her the truth. "Thank you." After regaining her balance, Olivia bit her lip. "Could you lend me a car?" "Julian, give her the keys." Adrian's voice was indifferent. "She's already lost everything, what's one more reckless decision?" His words stung, reminding her of her current state. Grabbing the keys, she hurried out. She knew going to the Austen Group was useless. Nolan had made it clear she was not welcome. She headed for Anna's place. Arriving at the house, she pushed open the gate and entered. In the garden, a young boy played on a wooden horse. Olivia froze.
