Gone

When she woke up the next morning, Summer was a tad tender in areas she never had aches in before, but it was so worth it. She had lost count on how many times they had done it, but it was almost check out time when she checked the clock. Maddox woke when he felt Summer stir. “Good morning, sexy,” he said sleepily, brushing an errant strand of hair from her face. “I could definitely get used to waking up to you every morning.” He looked at the clock and frowned, it was almost time to leave. He wished they could stay there forever, leave the rest of the world locked outside. He liked the world with her. The one he existed in without her was dark, loveless and terrifying. “We have time to go again,” he said grinning slyly. Summer stretched as Maddox propositioned her. Yep, she was definitely sore, but as she gazed at him with his luscious smile, she couldn't say no. “Ok, one more time,” she grinned, pulling him on top of her and wrapping her legs around his waist. “Then, I gotta get home before my mom has an aneurysm,” she giggled as she kissed him. Once turned into twice when they decided to save time and shower together, which proved to be counterproductive to a hasty exit. When they finally left the room, they had hit the checkout time on the nose. “I think you got your money's worth,” Maddox joked as he took Summer's hand and they headed to the exit. “The car should be waiting for us. My dad's drivers know to wait and they don't ask questions.” As predicted the limo was still parked out front and the driver was leaning on it casually smoking a cigarette, while speaking to another man. A large black SUV was parked behind the limo. Maddox stopped dead in his tracks as he looked at the second individual. Summer giggled at Maddox’s joke and said, “Well, I can't wait to do that again.” But Maddox wasn't listening to her. “You know, like the hotel room...well, and the s*x too,” she giggled. Maddox was frozen though, looking off in the distance. Summer looked up and saw a guy moving towards them. He was a massive man, who seemed to stretch the oversized suit he was wearing to the seams. His shaved scalp emphasized the oversized head that seemed to jut out from his collar where a neck should have been. The night's driver flicked his smoke to the curb and stood waiting as he watched them, his face unreadable. Maddox protectively stepped in front of Summer. “Frank…” Summer gripped Maddox’s arm with both of her hands as he stood in front of her, a pit of uneasiness growing in her stomach. “You need to come with me, now. Thomas will take your girlfriend home,” the approaching giant interrupted. Before Maddox could protest, however, Frank had seized him by the arm and was nearly dragging him to the car. “Maddox!” Summer cried as he was ripped from her. “Get your hands off me or my dad...,” his words were cut off when the big man backhanded him in the face. Summer cried taking a few steps toward Maddox as she watched what happened to him. Blood trickled from Maddox’s nose when he looked back at Summer. “Go home. I will call you as soon as I figure out what is going on.” That was all he could say before being tossed roughly into the SUV. The other driver casually stood by the open backdoor of the limo waiting for Summer to get in. Summer climbed into the limo nervously, tossing her overnight bag on the seat and as soon as the door closed, she cried. She was so scared for her boyfriend. The driver's divider window was down and she called out to him, “What is happening with Maddox?” But he only closed the window and the last time he appeared was to open her door for her when they arrived at her house. Summer ran inside and past her mother, who had been waiting for her daughter to come home to see how her night went. Summer flew up the stairs and launched herself at her bed, reaching for her bedroom phone to call Maddox, but he didn't answer. No one answered. She hung up and hit redial. Still nothing. That was the last time she ever saw or heard from Maddox Altera.
