The Next Chapter As soon as I was born, I died. The doctor handed my father a dead body. My father put me in a cardboard suitcase, then he went to a pub, had a beer and a good dinner, and returned home by train. There, he set the suitcase down on the couch in the big room. It was then that I began to move my arms and legs. My father opened the suitcase, and was very happy to find me alive. Everybody was very happy that I was alive. My Gramma once told me what my father said about that trip with the suitcase. These are her words: ‘There were three tables in that pub. It was a little pub, not far from the station.
