Lisa~
“Let’s go,” I whispered, clutching Richard’s hand.
But he yanked it away. “We can’t just leave like this. Please, Lisa. We need to see the Alpha.”
“Let’s gooo!” I snapped, louder than I intended—more pain than power in my voice.
The door creaked open.
Simon stepped out, shirtless and calm, with Mira draped behind him like a shadow. Her smirk was poison, her eyes sharp as daggers.
“What’s all this noise?” Simon asked, as if we were the intruders—strangers he didn’t once call his future.Mira stepped forward, her voice dripping venom. “What are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you to stay away? Showing up like some pathetic stray.”
“We came to see the Alpha,” Richard said, stepping in front of me like he could shield me from everything.
“And what for?” Mira spat.
“To ask for his help.”
“Richard, stop,” I whispered, my pride crumbling into the dust at my feet.
Mira’s eyes flicked to mine. “Listen, Lisa. I don’t want you anywhere near Simon ever again.”
“Is that why you called me a fool?” I asked, voice trembling. Her smirk faltered. “W-What are you talking about?”
“Because I trusted you?” I pressed, ignoring the knot twisting in my throat.
She rolled her eyes. “And how is that my fault? I tried to warn you. But Simon kept insisting we give you time—to realize you’re not worthy of him. But you just wouldn’t stop dreaming. So we sped up the Luna announcement.”
My chest felt like it had caved in.
So Mira knew. All along. She knew I was with Simon. She waited for the perfect moment to cut the rope and watch me fall.
“Oh,” I muttered. “I get it now.”
I lifted my chin. “If that’s the case… why did you let the Beta throw us out?”Mira’s eyes glinted. “Because your existence is a threat. You carry the bloodline of a fallen Alpha, and that blood has no place near Simon. As long as you're here, I'll never feel secure in my place as Luna.”
Something inside me collapsed. I’d lost everything—and now, even my blood made me the enemy.
I dropped to my knees.
“Please…” I choked out, tears burning hot trails down my face. “I’ll leave. I’ll go far away. Just… let Richard stay. Please. I’ll be grateful forever.”
Mira crossed her arms, clearly enjoying the view of my dignity in shreds.“The Beta already gave his verdict. My hands are tied,” she said with a mock sigh.
“Simon,” I whispered, turning to him. “Please…”
He paused, then finally nodded. “He can stay. But he won’t serve the Beta anymore. He’ll stay here… as the Luna’s personal aide.”
My heart cracked. That was a punishment dressed as kindness. He’d be beneath Mira, a servant to the woman who ruined us. But I had no choice.
“Thank you,” I murmured. “I accept. I’ll be on my way.”
“No!” Richard screamed, stepping forward. “I’m not going anywhere without you!”
“Richard,” I said softly, stepping back. “I’ll be fine. I’m not strong enough to help you now. This is… the least I can do.”
I turned away before my resolve broke.
I heard him sob behind me. But I didn’t look back.
I couldn’t.
He’d be safe here. That had to be enough.
I walked for what felt like forever. The trees thinned, the night grew colder, and eventually, a small flickering light drew me toward a modest building.
I pushed the door open.
It smelled of sweat, alcohol, and stale air.
Humans. Laughter. Cheap perfume. My senses recoiled.I sank into the nearest plastic chair. My legs couldn’t carry me another step. I didn’t have the strength… or the money to buy anything. I just needed to rest. Regroup. Find a place to disappear.
A sharp voice broke the air.
“Hey, you.”
I looked up. A lanky man loomed over me, eyes narrowed with disdain.
“No idle sitting,” he said, pointing to a hand-written sign behind him. “Order something or leave.”
“I’ll leave soon,” I said, barely able to raise my voice. “I just need to catch my breath.”
“Who cares? Get out.”I stared at him, my blood humming. I could kill him in less than a minute. But I came here to hide, not to expose myself.
I stood, defeated.
But he shoved me.
I stumbled and hit the ground.
“What are you staring at? Get up and get out!” he barked.
“I was already leaving,” I muttered, rising. “Why did you push me?”
“And what can you do about it?” he sneered, stepping closer.
The bar went silent. Eyes turned toward us. I swallowed my fury and turned away.
No need to make a scene. If only I have shifted. Not here.I walked outside and sank onto the cold cement, trying to calm the rising heat under my skin.
Ten minutes passed.
I thought he’d let it go.
But no.
He came out again.
This time, without a word, he slapped me.
Hard.
“Didn’t I tell you to leave? Get your dirty self out of here!”
Something snapped.
My wolf stirred. My blood buzzed. My vision narrowed, my breathing deepened.
Is this it? Is this the moment I shift? “Leave!” he roared.
“No,” I growled. My voice wasn’t mine anymore. My eyes began to glow—sharp, silver, primal.
He stepped back.
I stepped forward.
I shoved him, hard. He hit the ground with a cry.
I raised my hand, claws bursting through my fingertips, ready to strike—
Then a strong arm grabbed me.
A single blow to my neck—and everything went dark.
