First encounter

“I don’t even know this man… please!” Ezra’s voice cracked as he fell to his knees before them. “I’ll work. I’ll do anything you ask. I’ll clean, I’ll serve, I’ll disappear if that’s what you want—just don’t sell me to someone I’ve never met.” His desperate words echoed through the grand sitting room. No one cared. His father remained seated, calmly sipping tea as though Ezra were discussing the weather. His mother inspected her nails with bored indifference. His brothers watched with amused smiles, enjoying every second of his humiliation. “Am I not your own flesh and blood?” Ezra whispered, tears burning his eyes. “How can you do this to me?” His father finally looked at him, expression cold and sharp. “You stopped being family the day you were born an omega.” The words struck harder than any slap. Ezra’s breath caught, pain spreading through his chest so fiercely he thought it might crush him. Before he could speak again, his mother waved a hand dismissively. “Enough of this pathetic display. Dress him properly. We are being paid well for tonight.” Two maids stepped forward hesitantly. Ezra tried to pull away, but one of his brothers grabbed his arm so tightly it bruised. “Don’t make this harder than it has to be,” Damian said with a grin. He was dragged upstairs like an unwanted animal. The maids bathed him in scented water, scrubbing his skin until it stung. They brushed oils through his hair, powdered his face, and painted faint color onto his lips. Fine clothes were forced onto his body—soft silk and fitted fabric chosen not for comfort, but to display him. Ezra stared at his reflection in the mirror. He looked less like a person and more like a doll prepared for purchase. When he was brought downstairs, his family examined him in silence. His mother adjusted his collar. “At least he’s pretty enough to be useful.” His brothers laughed. His father only nodded. “Get in the car.” The city lights blurred past the windows as they drove through the night. Ezra sat trembling in the back seat, hands clenched in his lap, while the family around him discussed numbers, contracts, and future partnerships. Not once did they speak of him as a son. Only as payment. They arrived at a luxurious hotel glowing with gold lights and polished marble. Ezra’s father handed him a room keycard. “Suite 1708,” he said. “Go upstairs. Wait there until he arrives.” Ezra stared at the card with shaking fingers. “Please…” His father shut the car door in his face. The vehicle drove away. Left alone beneath the towering building, Ezra felt smaller than ever. Inside, the hotel was warm and elegant, but his body shook with dread as he stepped into the elevator. His heartbeat thundered in his ears. Seventeenth floor. He found the room number through blurred vision and swiped the card with numb hands. The door unlocked. Ezra stepped inside— And froze. This was no private suite. The room was enormous, dark, and filled with armed men in black suits. The air smelled of expensive liquor, blood, and something hotter… more dangerous. Every head turned toward him. At the center of the room stood a man unlike anyone Ezra had ever seen. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Dark hair falling over a sharp face. Green eyes that glowed with something wild and furious. Power radiated from him so heavily it stole the breath from Ezra’s lungs. This was no elderly businessman. This was a predator. The feared mafia alpha of the city. And judging by the overturned furniture, shattered glass, and the veins standing out in his clenched fists, something was terribly wrong. One of the guards cursed. “Who let him in here?!” Another rushed forward. “Boss, step back!” The alpha’s gaze locked onto Ezra. He inhaled once— Then growled. A deep, primal sound that sent fear racing down Ezra’s spine. The scent in the room thickened instantly. Heat. Possession. Rage. Someone whispered in panic, “They drugged him… his rut was triggered.” Ezra stumbled backward toward the door, but it slammed shut behind him. The mafia alpha took one slow step forward. Then another. His eyes never left Ezra. And in that moment, Ezra realized walking into the wrong room might have sealed his fate forever.
