Eleven Falerius came out of surgery after a couple more hours, and they got him settled into a room. Abby never left his side. I checked in with him just before I left but he was still out of it from all the meds they had him on. There were Marshals outside his room and city cops that Supervisor Franklin approved, which meant he checked on their background and finances. Once we talked to all of them, I felt better leaving them here for now. I told Abby I’d check with them later that night. Wallace and Franklin drove me back to the courthouse where Michael had almost reached the limit of his patience. When he saw us walk in, he started yelling at me, “Where the hell have you been. I thought you would be back in a couple of hours at the most. How long does it take to pick up some chick?”
