CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE Four years ago … “Noah!” Simon yelled, practically screeched. “More tuna, please! I’m starving!” Startled, I looked up from my desk at Simon’s bed in the corner of the living room. He was looking directly at me with a very expectant look and I understood why: An empty tuna can sat in front of his bed. I had just put the tuna can down less than a minute ago, yet it was already empty. “That was fast,” I said as I rose from my rickety office chair that I had gotten secondhand from the local thrift store. “You might want to pace yourself when you eat.
