“It’s only fitting that you should be Alpha of our pack,” Sam said as I stared at him dumbfounded. This was crazy. Sam spent the last twenty years building this pack, it was only fitting he should step up as its Alpha.
“Sam this is crazy,” I said, shaking my head. “You’ve spent half your life building this pack. You should be Alpha.”
“And you have helped me every step of the way,” Sam said as he placed a hand gently on my shoulder. “Nienna, I’m not an Alpha. It’s not in my blood,” he insisted. “You are an Alpha,” he assured me. “You have always done whatever you could to help guide us, to protect us,” Sam continued. “You have always been our Alpha, Starlight. Your wolf knows it, I know she does. You did everything you have ever done for us out of natural instinct.”
