Chapter 64 Amber POV I stood there for a long moment, staring at the open window. My dragon was still restless, pacing, uneasy. Tell them, she urged. But I didn’t move .If I told my parents, they would hunt him down. They wouldn’t ask questions. They wouldn’t care that he was just a kid. They would kill him. I slowly walked back into the hallway, my mind racing. Court broke into the castle. He stole something. Something about his father. That part stuck with me.Why risk his life for a book? I slipped back into my room and shut the door quietly behind me, leaning against it. “I’m not telling,” I whispered. My dragon huffed in disapproval, but she didn’t argue. I climbed back into bed, staring at the ceiling, knowing one thing for sure, This wasn’t over. Not even close. Court POV The wind rushed past me as I flew, my wings burning from the sudden shift. I didn’t stop. Not until the castle was nothing but a shadow in the distance. Only then did I land hard in the forest, shifting back, my chest heaving as I clutched the book tightly in my hands. “I got it…” I muttered. For a moment, I just stood there, staring down at it. This was it. The only thing my mother didn’t want me to find. The only thing she tried to hide. I sat on a fallen log, my hands tightening slightly before I opened it again. The pages were old, worn, and fragile. And the words inside… They made my blood run cold. The Book Court POV My father“ was not killed in battle as told to the public.” My breath hitched. What? My eyes moved faster across the page. “He was betrayed from within the allied packs.” “No…” I whispered. That wasn’t what I was told….Ever. “The attack was planned. The meeting was a trap.” My grip tightened on the page. A trap? “Witnesses reported multiple Alphas present during the final moments, including,,” The page was torn. ripped clean. “Who?” I snapped, flipping to the next page. But it only got worse.“His death was necessary to prevent the truth from spreading.”,My heart pounded in my chest. What is the truth? Why would they.. My thoughts stopped cold as I read the final line on the page. “The heir must never discover what truly happened.” Silence filled the forest. My hands started shaking.“The heir…” I whispered. That’s me. They were talking about me. My jaw clenched, anger rising fast and hot. “They lied to me…” Not just anyone. My mother. The Alphas. All of them. I slammed the book shut, standing up abruptly. “This isn’t over,” I growled. “If they think I’m going to just sit back and believe their lies…” my eyes lifted toward the distant castle. “They’re wrong.” Amber POV The next morning, I couldn’t shake the feeling. Something had changed. I walked through the halls like normal, but every guard, every shadow, every whisper felt… heavier. Like a storm was coming. And somehow, I knew Court was at the center of it.
