Chapter 78
Amber POV
The silence after Elder Kael’s words felt… suffocating.
The First. War. Kingdoms falling. That wasn’t just history.
That was a warning. I could feel every pair of eyes on me again, but now it wasn’t curiosity or even respect. It was fear.
Ripley’s hand brushed mine, grounding me.
“I’m here,” he said quietly.
I nodded, but my mind was racing.
“What does this mean?”I asked internally.
Nyx shifted uneasily. “This is bigger than us.”
Summer pressed closer. “We protect. Always.”
And then, Fenrya. “We conquer.” My breath hitched.
Unknown POV
Far away… Deep within shadows untouched by light…
He felt it. A surge. Ancient. Familiar. Impossible.
His head snapped up, dark eyes glowing with something close to madness.
“…Fenrya.”
The name left his lips like a prayer… or a curse.
The energy pulsing through the bond he had been tracking for so long had changed.
Grown. Awakened. A slow, twisted smile spread across his face.
“So… you’ve finally risen.”
The ground beneath him cracked as his power flared.
“You were never just a vessel…”
His voice dropped, filled with obsession.
“You are her.”
Excitement. Hunger. Possession.
“All this time… I wasn’t chasing a girl.”
A dark laugh echoed through the chamber.
“I was chasing a legend.”
He turned sharply.
“Prepare them,” he ordered into the darkness. “No more waiting.”
A pause. “This time… we will take her.”
Ripley POV
Something wasn’t right. I felt it the moment Kael finished speaking.
The shift in the air. The tension in Amber.
The way the pack had subtly taken a step back from her.
Fear. That didn’t sit well with me.
“She’s still your Luna,” I said, my voice carrying across the clearing.
A few heads lowered immediately. Good.
Elder Kael looked at me, something almost approving in his gaze.
“You speak with loyalty,” he said. “That will be tested, Alpha.”
I didn’t hesitate. “It won’t break.”
He studied me for a moment longer… then nodded slightly.
“We will see.”
I turned back to Amber. She looked… steady. Too steady.
Like she was holding something massive beneath the surface.
“Talk to me,” I said quietly.
Her eyes met mine. “I’m fine.” She wasn’t. I stepped closer, lowering my voice.
“You don’t have to carry this alone.”
For a split second, her walls cracked.
“I don’t even know what this is yet,” she admitted.
Before I could respond, she flinched.
Amber POV
Pain…Sharp..Sudden.,It ripped through my chest, stealing the air from my lungs. I gasped, stumbling slightly as energy surged through me.
“Amber!” Ripley caught me.
But I barely felt him...Because inside, Fenrya was no longer quiet.
“You feel that?” she said, her voice dark and thrilled.
“Yes, what is that?!” I cried internally.
“A challenge.” My eyes snapped open. The world around me… looked different. Sharper. Slower. I could hear heartbeats. Feel movement beneath the ground. Sense… everything.
“What’s happening?” Ripley demanded.
I pulled away slightly, staring at my hands.
Energy flickered across my skin, white, almost glowing.
“I think…” my voice trembled, not with fear, but with realization.
“I’m unlocking something.”
Elder Kael stepped forward quickly. “It has begun,” he said under his breath.
“Begun?” Ripley snapped. “What does that mean?”
Kael’s eyes stayed on me. “Fenrya’s abilities are awakening.”
My heart pounded.
“Abilities?” I whispered. He nodded slowly.
“She was not just powerful,” he said. “She was… beyond natural law.”
A chill ran through me. “What kind of abilities?” Ripley asked.
Kael hesitated. Then.
“Dominance over all lycan blood.”
The entire pack froze. Even Lila’s eyes widened.
“That means…” Ripley started.
Kael finished it. “If she commands it… no lycan can disobey her.”
Silence. Heavy. Dangerous. I swallowed hard.
“That’s not all,” Kael added quietly.
Of course it wasn’t.
“Fenrya could manipulate raw energy itself,” he continued. “Turn it into force… destruction… or protection.”
My gaze dropped to my hands again.
The faint glow was still there.
“And,” he said, his voice lowering further, “she could sense those who sought her.”
My breath caught. Because suddenly, That pain made sense.
“He’s coming,” I whispered.
Ripley stiffened. “Who?”
I looked up, fear finally breaking through.
“The demon.”
The air shifted again. This time… everyone felt it. A distant, dark pulse echoed across the land. Low. Threatening.
Coming closer. Fenrya’s voice rose inside me, powerful and certain.
Good. I clenched my fists.
“This isn’t over,” I said, my voice steady despite everything.
Ripley stepped beside me, his presence unwavering.
“Then we face it together.”
I glanced at him. At my pack. At the power rising inside me.
And for the first time…I understood the truth. This wasn’t just my fight anymore. This was war.
