a meeting 52

Chapter 52 Ruby POV Today is the day I meet with the three spies, well… wannabe spies, Wanda, Katy, and Wyatt. They claim they’re the best. From what I’ve heard? They’re far from it.,But they’re cheap. And right now, cheap works for me. So I figured… why not? If they can actually pull this off, I’ll pay them properly. If not, I lose a little money and move on. No big loss. I need information, specifically about that girl. And unfortunately, my son hasn’t been much help at all. She doesn’t like him. Not really. She’s only nice because they’re the same age. That’s not enough. I need more. So, before leaving, I spoke to him. “Court, I’ll be back in a while. Try not to destroy the house, okay?” He chuckled, completely unbothered. “Are you going to see the girl? Why can’t I go? You know I like her mother.” I sighed, grabbing the money I had set aside. “I’m not going to see the girl. We’ll talk more when I get back. Just don’t burn the house down or trash it. I’ll bring you something back, I promise, but Mommy has to go. ”Before he could ask another question, I slipped out the door. I already knew, when I got back, he’d be full of questions. The town wasn’t too busy today. I headed straight for the pub they told me to meet them at. The place has been around for years, I’ve watched it fall apart and rebuild more times than I can count. Pushing the door open, I stepped inside, scanning the room. I had no idea what they looked like.,so I went to the bar. “Excuse me, sir. I’m meeting three people, Wanda, Katy, and Wyatt. I don’t know what they look like, but they said to meet them here.” The bartender rolled his eyes and pointed toward a corner booth. “Be careful with those three. They’ve got a few screws loose.” That… wasn’t exactly reassuring. Still, I thanked him and walked over. As I got closer, I could already hear them arguing. The man, Wyatt, I assumed. looked genuinely irritated. “You can’t tell me you don’t see my girlfriend! She’s been on jobs with us, she’s the lookout! You’re just jealous!” Girlfriend? Oh, this should be interesting. I cleared my throat. All three of them snapped their heads toward me. One of the girls spoke immediately. “Let me guess, you want us to leave because we’re too loud? We’re actually waiting for someone, and if she doesn’t show up soon, I swear I’m going to kill this idiot.” “Well,” I said calmly as I slid into the booth, “good news, no killing today. You’ve been waiting for me.” They stared for a second before the same girl spoke again. “I’m Katy. The one with the pink and green hair is Wanda. And this..” she jabbed a thumb toward the guy “ is Wyatt. The one with the invisible girlfriend.” “Damn it, Katy, she’s not invisible, she’s sitting right here!” Right. Definitely not normal. Before they could spiral into another argument, I placed the money on the table. That got their full attention instantly. Wyatt leaned forward. “So… what do you want us to do?” Up close, he looked even more chaotic, mohawk dyed red, green, and blue, a spiked collar around his neck. Katy’s black hair faded into white at the tips, which honestly looked kind of nice. Wanda just watched quietly… which somehow made her the most unsettling. “Listen carefully,” I said. “You do exactly what I ask, and you each get another hundred dollars.” Now they were really listening. “I need you to spy on the king and queen’s daughter. I want to know when she leaves the castle, who she’s with, where she goes, and how long she stays there. You do not approach her. You do not interact with her. You watch, and you report back to me.” Wyatt raised a brow. “Lady, for a hundred dollars, we can do anything. So just to be clear, you want us to follow a princess… but not talk to her? What if she talks to us? Is she cute? How old is she?” I narrowed my eyes. “First..you don’t let her see you, so that won’t be a problem. Second, she’s twelve years old. So stay away. And third, didn’t you say you have a girlfriend? Why are you asking about her?” That shut him up fast. He turned red. “Well…uh…I mean…yeah! I have a girlfriend. She’s really pretty. Long purple hair, nose ring… she kicks me when she’s mad.” Of course she does. “Uh-huh,” I muttered. “Sure she does.” Katy snorted, clearly enjoying this. I ignored them and continued. “You start tomorrow. I want every detail. And for goddess’ sake, don’t get caught. I’ll meet you again in three days. That’s when you’ll get the rest of your money.” They nodded, suddenly much more serious.“Wait,” Wanda spoke up for the first time. “What’s your name, lady?” I paused for a moment… then smirked slightly. “Just call me Lady. I kind of like it.” With that, I stood and walked away. As I stepped out of the pub, I couldn’t help but shake my head. That guy is completely insane. The girls… I’m still not sure about. But one thing’s certain, This is either going to work perfectly… Or blow up in all our faces.
