Chapter 93
Ripley POV
The power hit first. A blast, not outward, but inward, like everything around us got pulled into her. Then, Silence.,Heavy. Unnatural.
I tensed, bracing for another attack. But it didn’t come. Instead…
She dropped.
“Amber!”
I caught her before she hit the ground, pulling her into my arms.
Her body was shaking, her breathing uneven, but the power…
It was different. Quieter.,Controlled. “Amber…?” I said, searching her face.,Her eyes slowly opened. No glow. No darkness. Just her.
“Ripley…” she whispered.
Relief hit me so hard it almost knocked the breath out of me.
“You’re back,” I said, my voice rough.
Tears filled her eyes instantly. “I’m here,” she said. “I’m still here.”
I pulled her closer without thinking. “I’ve got you,” I murmured.
For a second, just a second, everything else disappeared.
The war. The chaos. The danger. None of it mattered. She was back.
Third Person POV – The Calm Before the Next Storm
The shift was felt everywhere. Outside, Warriors paused.
Just for a heartbeat. The crushing pressure that had been suffocating the kingdom… eased. Inside, Drago, still in dragon form, froze mid-step. His massive head turned toward the throne room. He felt it. His daughter. Not the power. Her. Alive.
Fighting. Winning. Back inside the throne room, Amber slowly pulled away from Ripley, her body still weak but her eyes clear.
“I pushed her back,” she said softly. “She’s still there… but she’s not in control right now.”
Ripley nodded, not letting go completely.“Then we don’t give her the chance to take it again.”
Amber’s expression hardened slightly. Stronger now. More certain.
“She will try,” she said. “And next time… it’ll be worse.”
A distant crash echoed through the castle. The reminder hit instantly.,This wasn’t over.,Not even close. Outside. ,The enemy was still inside the walls. and moving closer. Amber looked toward the doors, her jaw tightening.“They’re here, aren’t they?” she asked.
Ripley didn’t sugarcoat it..“Yeah.”,She took a shaky breath,
Then steadied herself. “Then we don’t run,” she said. Something in her voice had changed.,Not fear.,Not doubt.,Resolve.
“We fight.”
Ripley studied her for a moment, Then nodded.,“Together.”,Far in the distance, Watching from the shadows, ,Two figures felt the shift.
And smiled. Because even though she had taken control back…
The war was just beginning.
Amber POV – Stepping Back Into the War
I felt it before I saw it. The castle wasn’t just shaking anymore,
It was breaking. Screams echoed down the halls. Steel clashed. Magic cracked through stone like thunder trapped indoors.
The war had reached us. And for the first time since everything started… I was here for it. I stepped forward. Ripley caught my wrist gently. “Are you sure?” he asked quietly.,I looked at him.
Really looked at him. He was still hurt. Still exhausted. Still standing anyway.,Because of me.,Because he never stopped.
“I’m sure,” I said. His grip loosened, but didn’t leave.
“Then we stay together,” he said.
I nodded.“Always.”
We moved. The throne wing doors were already half-destroyed when we reached them. Guards fought desperately in the corridor beyond. And beyond them, Enemies. Too many.,Ripley exhaled slowly. “This is going to be bad.”
I stepped beside him.,“It already is.” A rogue lunged toward us,Fast.
Ferocious. I reacted before I thought. My hand lifted, Not chaos.
Not panic. Control. A wave of energy snapped outward.
Clean. Focused. The rogue hit the wall and didn’t get back up.
Silence hit the hallway for half a second.,Ripley glanced at me.
A little stunned.
“…Okay,” he muttered. “That’s new.”
I swallowed once. “I told you,” I said. “I’m not her anymore.”
Another rogue came..Then two. Ripley moved instantly, intercepting one, I handled the other. Not wild. Not destructive.,Precise.
Every movement felt like reclaiming something that had been stolen from me.,My body. My power. My mind.
“Amber!” Ripley called as he blocked a strike. “Left side!”
I didn’t hesitate.,A pulse of light snapped out, The attacker dropped.
Ripley stared for half a second. “You’re actually getting better at this.”
“Don’t sound so surprised,” I shot back.
A faint, exhausted laugh left him..Even now..Even here.He was still him.
