meeting Court 42

Chapter 42 The marketplace was so busy. There were so many people walking around, talking, laughing… it felt loud, but in a happy way. I stayed close to my mom, holding her hand as we walked past different stands. “Mommy, look!” I pointed at a table full of pretty bracelets. “They’re shiny!” Levonna smiled. “We can look in a minute, sweetheart.” I nodded, but something… Something felt weird. I slowed down a little. Nxy? I whispered in my head. There was a soft pause. “”Do you feel that?”” she asked. I frowned slightly. “Feel what…?” Before she could answer, I felt it again. A pull. Soft… but strong. Like something was calling me. I turned my head slowly, looking around the crowd. And then I saw him. A boy. About my age. Standing just a few steps away from me. He was already looking at me. My heart started beating a little faster. I didn’t know why… but I felt like I knew him. “Hi…” he said softly, taking a small step closer. I blinked. .“Hi…” We just stood there for a second, staring at each other. It wasn’t awkward. It felt… normal. Like this was supposed to happen. “My name is Court,” he said. “I’m Amber,” I replied. A small smile spread across his face. “I know.” I tilted my head. “You do?” He nodded. “My mom told me about you.” That made my tummy feel funny again. “Oh…” I didn’t know what to say to that. But I didn’t feel scared. Not even a little. Actually… I felt that was weird “”Careful,”” Nxy warned softly. But her voice didn’t sound angry… just unsure. “Do you wanna see something?” Court asked, his eyes lighting up. I hesitated. I was supposed to stay with my mom… But he didn’t feel like a stranger. “Okay,” I said quietly. Levonna POV I froze. The moment Amber let go of my hand. A cold feeling rushed through me. My head snapped toward her, and that’s when I saw him. A boy. Standing too close. Talking to her. My wolf and dragon instantly growled. Who is that? I didn’t recognize him. And that alone was a problem. “Drago,” I mind-linked sharply, my voice tight with warning. There’s a child near Amber. I don’t know him. I started moving toward them, slow but controlled, not wanting to alert whoever he was with. But something else hit me. Energy. It was faint… but it was there. And it was reacting. To him. Ruby POV There it is. I watched from a distance, my lips curling into a satisfied smile. They found each other. Even easier than I thought. Court stood in front of her, calm, confident… exactly how I taught him to be. And Amber? She didn’t pull away. She didn’t run. She trusted him. Perfect. “Good,” I whispered to myself. But then…Something shifted. The air. The energy. I felt it, and I knew exactly what it meant. Their powers… They were reacting. My eyes darkened slightly. “Well now…” I murmured. “That’s interesting.” This wasn’t just a simple meeting anymore. This was something more. Something deeper. And whether they realized it or not… This moment just changed everything. Court reached out his hand. “Come on,” he said. I looked at his hand…mThen back at his face. For some reason… I wasn't sure if I could trust him. I slowly reached out, The second our hands touched, ,A sudden burst of warmth shot through my body. “Ah!” I gasped, my eyes widening. Fire. I saw fire. Not real fire, but like flashes in my mind. Bright. Strong. Powerful. At the same time, Court’s grip tightened slightly. “Do you feel that?” he asked, his voice filled with surprise. I nodded quickly. “Yes…” Nxy! I called out. But she didn’t answer right away. She felt… shocked. “”This… isn’t normal,” she finally said. warmth doesn't hurt. But this did, It felt…Wrong,, But also scary. I looked at Court again. “What’s happening?” I whispered. He shook his head slightly. “I don’t know…” We both let go at the same time.
