Chapter 44 Levonna POV As they walked away, I couldn’t shake the feeling settling deep in my chest. This wasn’t random. This wasn’t just a child wandering up to Amber. No. This was something else. Something planned. I looked down at Amber, brushing her hair back gently. “What did you feel?” I asked softly. She hesitated. Then whispered, “Warm… like fire.” it hurt my hand. I didn't like it mommy” My heart dropped. The Moon Goddess’s visit. This boy. That energy. It was all connected. And whatever was coming… It had already begun. Ruby POV We didn’t speak until we were far enough away. Far enough that no one could hear. Far enough that I knew we weren’t being followed. Only then did I stop walking. “Alright,” I said calmly, looking down at Court. “What did you feel?” He didn’t answer right away.,Instead, he looked back toward where we came from, like he could still see her through the crowd. “It was warm,” he said finally. “But not like normal warm.” I raised an eyebrow slightly. “Explain.” He looked up at me, his eyes sharper than any child’s should be. “It felt like… something was on fire, it hurt” he said. I smiled slowly. There it is. “So you felt it too,” I murmured. He nodded. “And she did too.” That made my smile grow just a little more. “Good,” I said softly. Court frowned slightly. “Why is that good?” it hurt, that's not good.” Ah. Here we go. The questions. I crouched down in front of him, brushing a piece of hair from his face. “Because, Court… that means the connection is real.” He studied me carefully. “What connection?” I held his gaze for a moment. How much do I tell him? He’s young… But he’s not normal. “You and Amber are important to each other,” I said carefully. “More than other people.” He didn’t look convinced. “That’s not what you told me before,” he said. My expression didn’t change, but inside, I noted it. He remembers everything. Smart boy. “What did I tell you?” I asked calmly. “You said I needed to meet her,” he replied. “That it was important. But you didn’t say why.” I sighed softly, as if debating whether to tell him the truth. “Some things are easier to understand when you’re older,” I said. His eyes narrowed just slightly. “I’m not a baby.” I almost laughed. “No,” I said, my voice softening. “You’re not.” He crossed his arms. “Then tell me.”,There it is. That stubbornness. That curiosity. I leaned in just a little. “There are people in this world who have power,” I said quietly. “Special power.” He didn’t interrupt. Good. “And Amber…” I continued, “is one of the most powerful.” His eyes flickered. “I felt that,” he admitted. “Yes,” I said. “And so did you.” That made him pause. “What do you mean?” I smiled faintly. “Didn’t you notice?” I asked. “You weren’t scared. You didn’t pull away right away.” He thought about it. Then shook his head slowly. “No…” “Exactly,” I said. “Because something in you recognized her.” Silence fell between us.mI could practically see his mind working. “But why?” he asked quietly.mI straightened slightly. “Because you were meant to find her.” That wasn’t a lie. Just not the full truth.
