chapter 40
Ruby POV
I was laughing inside, no, I was howling. After what I had seen, I made sure every single Alpha knew about it. One by one, I called them, careful to disguise my voice. I never told them who I was. I had to stay safe. The last thing I needed was them tracing this back to me. That’s why I used a burner phone, completely untraceable.
I watched from a distance as they stormed out of the castle, anger written all over their faces. Whatever they had expected to happen clearly didn’t. I smirked.,Good. For a moment, I considered sending my son there… but Court was still just a child. He wasn’t an Alpha. Not yet. Maybe he should have gone… No. It was too risky. Turning away, I headed home, already forming another plan. I had to meet that child. More importantly, I needed her to meet Court. The connection had to happen, but carefully. Everything had to be done the right way. Once I made it home, I paid the babysitter and sent her on her way. Walking into the kitchen, I found Court sitting at the table, drawing and coloring quietly. I sat down beside him.
“Did you see her today, Mommy?” he asked without even looking up. “Is that why you got a babysitter?” I froze slightly. Then he added, “You know… she drinks a lot when she’s here. She doesn’t really watch me. She just stays on her phone while I sit in one spot most of the day.”
My jaw tightened. My son was smart, far smarter than most children his age. He noticed everything. That made this both easier… and harder.,“Court, honey,” I said gently, brushing his hair back, “I have an idea for you to meet her.” That got his full attention. “But we have to be very careful,” I continued. “We have to be tricky about it, and we need to make sure it’s safe. We’ll wait until we see them out in public, okay?" His eyes lit up, and a wide smile spread across his face.,For the first time, he was going to meet the girl I had told him so much about.,And he was excited. “So… Here's the plan.”
Little Amber POV
I didn’t know what was going on. I went to sleep like normal, expecting to dream about my dolls… but something felt different.
Instead, I found myself in a beautiful playroom. It didn’t look like any place I had ever seen before. Everything felt warm and safe.
And there was a lady sitting there. She looked at me and smiled, motioning for me to come closer. For some reason, I wasn’t scared.
I felt… safe. Like she would never hurt me. and would hurt anyone who tried to hurt me. I walked over and climbed onto her lap. She was so pretty, with long white hair and bright blue eyes that almost sparkled.
“Hello, little one,” she said softly. “I know this must feel like a strange dream, but I brought you here for a reason.”,
Her voice was so gentle, it made me feel sleepy.
“Why did you bring me here?” I asked quietly. “Did I do something bad? Am I in trouble?”
Her expression softened even more. “No, sweetheart. You didn’t do anything wrong,” she said kindly. “I wanted to tell you about Alpha.”
I blinked., “Alpha?”
“He is special,” she continued. “He is your protector. That is why he was born before you. Your parents believe you are mates… but you are not.”, I frowned, confused.
“I cannot make family into mates, it is wrong. But I can make protectors.”
I didn’t really understand. “What is a mate?” I asked. “And why do I need protection? Is someone going to hurt me?”
She smiled again, but this time there was something sad in her eyes. “You will learn about mates when you are older,” she said gently. “And yes… There are people who may try to hurt you. They want your power.”
My heart beat a little faster. “My power?”
She nodded. “Do you know what you are, little one? You are a very powerful dragon…a fire dragon. You can control fire, both in your human form and your dragon form. Your dragon is very special.”
I stayed very still, listening. “But you must be careful,” she warned softly. “Do not use your powers in public. And Nxy… I know you can hear me. No more shifting in public either, not until she is older.”
I blinked again.,Who was this lady? “Who are you?” I asked. “Are you a witch?”
She laughed softly, her smile warm. “No, sweetheart,” she said. “I am the Moon Goddess. I watch over all supernatural beings.”
My eyes widened. “I’m very proud of you,” she added, brushing my hair back gently. “You are an amazing child.”
I smiled a little. “But it’s time for you to go back now,” she continued. “Morning is coming, and your parents will worry.”
She leaned closer. “Close your eyes… and count to two.”
I did what she said. One… Two… When I opened my eyes again, I was back in my bed. I blinked, staring at my ceiling.
That… It was a very weird dream.
