Chapter 73 Amber POV The scream tore out of me before I could stop it. Pain exploded through my body, worse than the shift. Worse than anything. It felt like something was pulling at me from the inside. Like my power was being ripped open. “MAKE IT STOP!” I cried, collapsing to my knees. “Amber!” Ripley was instantly beside me, his hands hovering like he didn’t know where to touch without hurting me. The man in the shadows just smiled. “Yes… there it is,” he said, his voice filled with sick satisfaction. “I was wondering when it would surface.” “What are you doing to her?!” my dad roared. “Nothing she wasn’t already becoming,” he replied calmly. My vision flickered.,Nyx was roaring. My wolf—no, Summer—was snarling viciously. And then..Something else…Something ancient.,Something… terrifying.,You finally woke me up… The voice wasn’t Nyx…Wasn’t Summer..It was deeper. Older.,Powerful in a way that made everything inside me go still. “W-Who are you…?” I whispered internally. A low, almost amused chuckle echoed in my mind..””I am what you were always meant to be. A lycan, And That reminds needs to die”” Ripley POV Something was very, very wrong. Amber’s body started glowing faintly, first red… then silver… Then something else. Gold. Pure, blinding gold. “What the hell is that?” Alpha muttered. “I don’t know,” Drago said, but there was something like fear in his voice.,Fear.,From him? That wasn’t good. The man in front of us looked thrilled. “Ahh… there you are,” he said softly. “The third.” My blood went ice cold. Third,My dragon lost it.!“”NO ONE TOUCHES HER.”” I didn’t think.I lunged.!The Fight I shifted mid-air, my dragon bursting free as I went straight for him. Drago shifted right behind me, massive and furious. Flames lit up the clearing.,The enemy moved fast, too fast. Dodging., Smirking.,Like he was enjoying this. “You’ve gotten stronger, Ripley,” he taunted, narrowly avoiding my claws. “But not enough.” I swung again, fire blasting from my jaws. This time he blocked it. Blocked it.With one hand. What the hell is he? Drago came in from the side, slamming into him hard enough to crack the ground beneath them. “YOU WILL NOT TOUCH MY DAUGHTER!” he roared. For a second, It looked like we had him..Then he laughed. And everything went wrong. Amber POV The pain stopped. Just… stopped. I lifted my head slowly. The world looked different. Sharper. Brighter.I could see everything. Feel everything.,Ripley.,My dad.,My mom.,The enemy. All of it. All at once. Power surged through me, too much, too fast. “I feel… weird,” I whispered. “You feel powerful, " the new voice corrected. My body lifted off the ground slightly. Wait, ,I wasn’t touching the ground. “Amber?” my mom said, her voice trembling. I looked down at my hands. They were glowing gold. “I didn’t do this…” I said. “”But you can control it.”” The enemy turned toward me, eyes gleaming. “Yes… show me.” He hurt me. He scared my family. Without thinking. I raised my hand. And blasted him. A wave of golden energy slammed into him, throwing him back across the clearing. Everything went silent. I blinked. “I… did that?” Ripley POV Holy. s**t. She just threw him like he was nothing. Even he looked surprised as he slowly stood up, brushing himself off. And then, he smiled. “That’s exactly what I needed to see.” Yeah, no. I moved instantly, placing myself between him and Amber. “You’re done.” He tilted his head. “Not quite.” And then everything happened at once. Dark figures burst from the trees. Rogues. Dozens of them. “Protect Amber!” Drago roared. I didn’t hesitate. I shifted back to human just long enough to grab her, pulling her behind me. “Stay with me,” I told her. “I’m not helpless,” she shot back. but her voice shook. “I know,” I said. “But right now, you’re mine to protect.” Her breath hitched. Not the time. Definitely not the time. The Kidnapping Attempt The rogues attacked all at once. Chaos exploded around us. Fighting. Shifting. Blood. I took down two, three, four moving purely on instinct. But there were too many. “Ripley!” Amber called. I turned, Big mistake. The enemy was already there. Right in front of her. He grabbed her wrist. She screamed. “LET GO OF HER!” I roared, lunging forward. But he smirked. “Told you,” he said. “I don’t need to touch her long.” Amber’s body glowed again, gold flaring wildly. The ground beneath us cracked. The wind howled. Power exploded outward, And it threw everyone back. Including him. He lost his grip. Amber dropped. I caught her before she hit the ground. Her body went limp in my arms. “Amber?” my voice came out rough. “Amber, wake up.” No response. Behind us, the enemy stood again, this time more cautious. But still smiling. “This isn’t over,” he said. “Now I know what she is.” My dragon roared, ready to tear him apart. But he stepped back into the shadows. And disappeared. The rogues retreated with him. Just like that, they were gone. Aftermath — Ripley POV I didn’t care about anything else. Not the fight. Not the enemy. Not the damage. Just her. I held Amber tighter, panic creeping in. “Amber… come on,” I said, softer now. Her parents rushed over. “Is she breathing?” her mom asked frantically. “Yes,” I said quickly. “She’s breathing.” But she wasn’t waking up.” Drago knelt beside us, his expression dark. “This changes everything,” he said. Yeah. It did. I looked down at her, at the girl who just became something no one understood. Something powerful. Something dangerous. Something mine. And this time, I wasn’t hiding it. “Anyone who comes for her,” I said quietly, my voice deadly calm, “goes through me first.” My dragon growled in agreement. Because this? This was war now.
