8 RevelationMcDowell had not slept at all. The night had taken an eternity to pass but now there was no time left for dreaming. She rose quickly on the stroke of five, having completed all of her packing the night before. From her locker she took the civilian outfit that had been liberated from some unfortunate male amputee. The blue suit and polo-neck sweater fitted McDowell perfectly, but she chose her own army boots over the fragile suede shoes that had been supplied. She knew that they would not last five minutes during any conflict or, for that matter, the severe weather conditions that she would most definitely encounter on her mission.
