AcknowledgementsI’ve dreamt of writing this part of Extinction for many years – I suppose it reminds me of all those cheesy acceptance speeches at award ceremonies (although I’ve not won anything)– I’d like to thank my cat, my dog, but most of all everyone who believed in me blah blah blah!
Still, there are people to thank, who without their influence, this novel would not have been written. It started with Elise, my special needs daughter just after she was born in 1998. She was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome at about four weeks old, devastating is the only way to describe it. Unfortunately, one of the symptoms of WS is a lack of restful sleep, which obviously means parents endure difficult nights, these being more pronounced than that of a healthy child.
