“Lana, come here right now!” an old woman shouted at the top of her voice. 22 years old Lana, ran down the stairs to meet the old woman who was sitting by a window. “Ma Fie, I’m here.” She said, bowing her head. “I did. Didn’t I tell you to teach my grandson to shoot arrows? Now look, he’s in pains. He tried to learn by himself and hurt himself… oh, my poor cub. You are to be blamed, you useless outcast!” the woman said, raising her voice at the last sentence. “But Ma Fie, you told me not to teach him anymore. You said it’d be too dangerous for him, since he hasn’t wolfed out yet and would feel pain at any slight injury. You insisted that I shouldn’t teach him till he turns to a full wolf.” Lana said with her head bowed low. “Why do you speak when I’m speaking? You ungrateful outcast! You’re 22 already and you haven’t wolfed out yet. I wonder when you’d find a mate. Your life is worthless!” Ma Fie shouted at the top of her voice. “Ma, I’m sorry…” Lana said, thinking why she’s apologizing for something that’s not her fault. “Oh now you’re playing the victim. What makes you sorry, huh? Confused fellow! If anything bad happens to my grandson, I swear I’d make sure I end your miserable life!” Ma Fie said, swearing on Lana.
Lana immediately left the sight of Ma Fie to take her grandson to a healer at the side of the valley that demarcated this pack from the other. She walked a long distance before reaching the healer’s lair. Lana walked into the lair with fear etched on her face. This wasn’t her first time here, but this place gets scarier every time she comes.
As she was about entering the main chamber of the healer, the healer spoke out. “I’ve been waiting for you and here you are. You are the last one. The one meant to preserve the dynasty, but you seem to have forgotten yourself and lost your true identity. You can’t afford to forget your purpose. Don’t forget this.”
Lana wondered why the healer was telling her that. “Are you a seer? Why are you telling me this?” she asked. “You are the Lunar last heir. You are the one who’d bring your extinct tribe to existence again.” The healer said while coming out of her main chambers. Her face which was covered partially by a black veil, still revealed a deep scar which had barely healed yet. That scar always made Lana wonder why the healer who heals others hasn’t been able to heal herself.
The healer had a dark aura and every word she spoke sounded like reality already. “Why are you dragging me back to the past I’m trying to forget? Twelve years has passed since that incident. I don’t want to be the one. I know by refusing I’m literally failing my mother, but I can’t do it anymore. I’m not the one. I wish I died that day of execution. I wish that young boy, I scarcely remember his name, did not help me escape. I regret my whole life and existence. Since that day, my whole life has been shattered. All my dreams came to naught. I’m living as a slave, badly maltreated and battered everyday to get me to remember that I am nothing. I have been to ten houses as a slave through those twelve years. They treat me as nothing, well it’s because I’m nothing. My future doesn’t hold anything. Even the moon has forsaken me. I haven’t wolfed out yet, my life is worthless. I’m not bringing back any extinct tribe to existence. I’d be a slave my whole life. Maybe that’s what the moon wants.” Lana concluded.
“I expected this response. I’m not surprised by this you have said. Something’s going to happen to change your perspective. No matter how you try to block your heart from receiving all I’m saying, you are going to make that decision by yourself.” The healer said. Lana, who was not ready to chit chat with the healer, mentioned the young boy with her who needed healing. “I do not need a prophecy. I came here because of my ma’s grandson. He mishandled a poisonous arrow. Please heal him before he dies.” “You refused to notice that the moment I stepped out of my chambers, the boy’s health improved.” Lana was shocked and glanced down at the boy, who was sitting quietly by a rock in the lair premises. “I am a supernatural being. This is your sign that you are going to be the one to do all I’ve said.” The healer said, with her dark aura rising.
Lana immediately felt uncomfortable and decided to leave her presence so as to head back home. “Thanks so much for healing him and thanks for the… words of wisdom, healer. I’m about to head back to the pack. My ma’s expecting me already.” Lana said and started leaving, her eyes darting around the lair as she left. The healer, who watched her leave, sighed and went back into her chambers.
The boy who had heard all what the healer said, asked Lana on their way back, “Lana, are you really a Lunar heir? I’ve never heard of that pack before?” “No, don’t pay attention to what the healer said. It’s all a lie. I’m nothing and again there’s nothing like Lunar tribe. The healer was just delusional” Lana said and sighed. “Oh okay. Why haven’t you wolfed out yet? You’re twenty-two already…” the boy asked. “Well, dear Andre, I do not know why. I’m a late bloomer. It sometimes happens like that.” “Well, I do not want to be a late bloomer. Today’s the rising of the red moon. Lots of my peers might wolf out today. I really hope I do too and I wish you wolf out too” Andre said compassionately. “Thanks dear. You’re definitely not a late bloomer. You’re going to be a strong werewolf with amazing abilities. I believe in you, Andre.” Lana said, and flashed him a faint smile. “You’re beautiful, Lana.” Andre said, smiling too. “Thanks.” Lana said and continued walking, leading 14 years old Andre to their pack.
Lana was indeed beautiful. She stands at around 5’8 with a slender yet athletic build. Her hair was a rich, dark brown color that falls in loose waves down her back. Her eyes were an arresting shade of piercing emerald green, sparkling with a clear glint. Her skin had a radiant, moon-kissed glow, with a subtle sheen despite the maltreatment she suffered. Her cheekbones were high and defined, giving her an otherworldly elegance. Her nose was small and slightly upturned, adding to her endearing and delicate features. Her lips were full and inviting, curled into a perpetual smile that hints at her warm and compassionate nature. She walked with effortless elegance and had a confident demeanor and sharp wit with a compelling presence, beneath her shy and introverted behavior. She was stunning more than skin deep; a reflection of her inner strength and courage she was yet to uncover.
