Tessa
"Wait… stop! Where are we going? You can't just do that. I have to go to class, Nick." I scream at the top of my lungs, but he won't spare me a single glance. He keeps moving till we arrive at a corner, and he pulls me aside. His blazing gaze cast on me and I swallow. I take a step back, but he lifts a brow and I lower my gaze. "Why did you come?" I ask, but I didn't dare to look him in the eyes. "You shouldn't have come here. Now, everyone is going to hate me for being a bully."
"Hmm! You are pathetic…" he scoffs and tosses an envelope on the ground. His expression clearly says it all. I reach for it and slowly rip it apart with Nick's eyes all over me. "You have just one job and I expect you to do it right. That's the new agreement. I will see you at the office when you are done with this…. He scans the building and disgust creeps down his throat as he rolls his eyes."
"I—I," my words suddenly fail me. "What are you talking about? I don't understand."
I scan the piece of paper in my hand and I swallow. I don't believe what's right in front of me. I know I agreed to be his surrogate, but what is this? Why does he want me working for him as his personal assistant? Nick wants everything, and I am starting to doubt his intentions.
I clutch the paper and sigh deeply, his hands dipping inside his pockets and his brows up as our eyes meet.
"Why?!" I ask, my breath settling on my skin.
"You should be thanking me, Tessa," he yawns and waves me off, but I run to him and clutches his suit, burying my face on his broad chest. I try to blink back the tears that threatens to fall off my eyes, but the lump in throat settles, and I almost choke in my own outburst.
"I don't know what to say," I cry but he exhales and clicks his tongue as he pulls me aside slowly. "You shouldn't be this kind to me despite my flaws. Thank you, Nick."
"That's enough, Tessa. You are going to ruin my outfit," he whines, but I sniffle. "You are such an eyesore, crying like a baby. Really?! I will leave you now and make sure you don't get defeated by those lowlifes. Who cares if they fear you now? You are the boss now… show them what you are made of and don't forget to use my name to taunt them daily. My driver will pick you up later."
Without saying another word, he dips his hands inside his pockets and turns to walk away. His men follows, but he stops them with a glare, and they all stand still.
"Your job is to protect Tessa. Do you understand me?" A low growl escapes his lips and panic surges through them. "I will see you guys at the mansion."
"Yes sir," they all respond in unison.
I wave from behind as Nick walks out of the premises in a grand style. Something about him screams perfection — the perfect lover— the perfect boss.
I wipe off the tears in my eyes and slowly walk away.
They follow me back in but this time, I didn't hold anything back but accept the gift Nicolas has given me.
Today marks a remarkable feet for me.
A new kind of crazy— Tessa Cole is back to change the game and this time, nothing will hold me back.
I walk through the hallway, and they all whisper my name, but I can hear them. Some of them glare from a distance, but I don't give a damn about what anyone thinks of me. Slowly, I reach for the doorknob but pause and swing my hair in motion with a small grin on my lips. I turn behind me and everyone halts, but I scoff and walk right inside the classroom without wasting any time on them and their endless gossip.

Just as class dismissed, I grab my purse and slip out my cellphone just to see tons of messages from Grace. A loud laugh slips my lips and everyone turns to face me, but I tilt my head and shrug at them.
Slam!
Right at my desk, Nicole stands tall but somehow frustrated and pale. She clenches her fist and shoots me a cold glare. I scratch my head and sigh because I can only imagine how pissed she must have been.
"Just who do you think you are, Tessa? You may have slept with a rich guy, but you don't own this place. This is my last warning, stay away from my man."
"Uh?!"
"I can see your eyes all over him, but I won't let you have your way. You will not humiliate me anymore. I am sure that your so-called fiancé knows nothing about your background because if he does, he will leave you in a heartbeat."
"You are just pained, Nicole."
I stand to my feet and walk right pass her. I have no interest in her or her tantrums. I need to be with Nick at his office. Whenever Nicole doesn't get her way, she becomes dramatic, and it's annoying to even watch. She has Jake now, so what's the big idea?! I don't care about him or her anymore. I just want a good life for myself and Nicolas has promised me just that. All I have to do is do my part and nothing can stop me.
I don't need love— I need power.
Screw them all. It's all in the past now.
"Don't you dare walk away from me, Tessa," Nicole yells, but it somehow sounds like a melodious tone in my ears. "I bet your father doesn't know about your rich boyfriend, does he? Who knows what that drunk will do this time?"
Nicole bursts into laughter, but I am done talking to that b***h.
Just as I take a step forward, a loud voice slices through the thin air and time seems to freeze.
"Tessa! Wait…"
