Chapter 2

1101 Words
Tessa My eyes flutter close, the sight before me feels unreal, and my hands tremble as I lock eyes with Jake and Nicole. I can't believe that my best friend would do this to me. That b***h always complains about Jake's abusive nature. She f*****g hates him and now, she is f*****g him. Really?! I clutch my garment, as I try to look away. I have no words for these two. All my efforts, my time, everything and he did this to me? "Can I get my phone, please?" I ask as my voice trembles. "Tessa…. You have to understand." Nicole grabs my hand as I walk towards the bathroom. "I wanted to tell you, but it wasn't time yet." "Don't you dare!" I roar, pushing her aside. "What exactly do you want me to understand, Nicole? Don't you ever show your face around me again. I f*****g trusted you, and you did this to me. All this time, you were f*****g with him." "I tried to tell you, Tessa. You just weren't listening. You never paid attention to anything I have to say, and it's not my fault that Jake likes me better. I always told you he never liked you, but you didn't listen." "You are so disgusting," I chuckle, my gaze blazing at the b***h. "You two can have each other and, as for you," I glare at Jake, he f*****g feels no remorse at all. "We are done. You can sort out your f*****g bills yourself. I should have known better." I ran my fingers through my hair, my eyes streaming down tears but my mouth thundering. He stood up, rolling his eyes like I didn't matter. "You can leave, Tessa. You were never a match for Nicole. Look at you, no one likes you, not even your f*****g family. It's boldly written on the wall, but you choose to be stupid. You're nothing but a money bank to me." "How could you say that to me?!" I scream, my voice breaking, tears falling off my eyes like a fountain. "What else do you expect me to say? Everyone hates you and you know it. Look at Nicole, she is just your friend because you help her with her school tasks. What were you thinking?!" He scoffs, casting a disgusting glare at me. ''That she actually loves you as a friend? You are nothing but a lowlife whose parents reject over and over again, but because you are so desperate for love, you f*****g let them use you for their own selfish interest. All they see in you is money that you clearly don't have and that's what I see too. Like who takes care of a guy's finances that doesn't even want her? Well… I guess a desperate chick like you won't have a problem pleasing everyone." "You are so cruel," I yell, but he chuckles and it breaks my heart. "That's what I thought, you can have your phone back and, please, never show yourself around here again. I love Nicole and you will never get to her level. You are the girl that no one loves, and the word will be all over campus. Jake finally dumps the lowlife bitch." My chest knots as I cast my gaze on Nicole and the bastard. My words failed me. I grab my cellphone, taking a deep breath as I walk through the door with a heavy heart. My vision blurs as I slip into the car. I sniffle; I have never known such a betrayal. "Ma'am, are you okay?" The driver asked, but I smiled partly as I looked through the window. Ringing! As I glance at the caller ID, I collapse in my seat, the burden of everything hanging on my shoulders. They never call for a good course, it's always one bill and another, and it makes me sick. Ever since my parents lost everything to the Sharks dynasty, I became their only hope of survival. Dad was once a successful billionaire, but his greed and pride got in the way and, somehow, he stepped on the wrong family and that didn't just cost him his empire, it cost him his favorite son too. I was never accepted by my own father, he literally treated me like s**t since my mom passed and that is all thanks to his mistress and his illegitimate son he brought into the mansion. For years, I struggled for acceptance, but he never saw me, not until he lost the apple of his eyes, his son. Since he left me out there to care for myself like I had no father, he figured he could run to me for help seeing how independent I have become. It hurts but he is still my father. I sigh deeply as I connect the call, my lips a bit twisted. "Hey! Dad, I am on my way to work. Please can you call me back in the morning. Have had a long day already." "You ungrateful b***h," he thunders. "You know how difficult things are for me and your mother, but you chose to ignore my calls for days. We are out of cash, and what are you going to do about it?" "Dad, I am low on funds. For goodness’ sake, I have done everything to make sure you are well-fed, but you keep wasting all my money. Give me a break for once. My tuition fee is due in days and my landlord has been bugging me about my rent. I don't even know what to do. Help me out here for once, please…." "How dare you! If Charlie was still alive, he would have been better at providing for his family." "Not the comparison again," I hiss. "Dad, I am damn broke, and you have to understand." "I don't care!!! You know what, I want you in my apartment in the morning, and you had better make sure you come with the money I asked for. Be useful for once," he yells and hangs up the call and my belly knot. I don't just get it. Why does everyone's burdens revolve around me? My whole body keeps screaming for rest, even if it's just for one night. I am so sick and tired of all the struggling. I just lost my boyfriend to my best friend. Is it too much to ask for all the burdens to be taken off my shoulders? I pull my weight on my seat as my eyes turn red, tears streaming down my cheeks as I gaze outside the window for a little solace.
