Chapter 20

Tessa "If you move, you will die." "So, you are the mysterious woman Nick has been hiding in his bed." Soft growls ring in my ears and panic surges through me. I dare not look them in the eyes. My body starts to fail me, my legs shake like jelly and I gulp down my saliva nervously. "I am not doing anything wrong. I just want to go to my classes. I haven't done anything wrong to you guys." "Hmm!" One of them scoffs and a cold chill runs down my spine. "You think you can lie to us. What have you done to our friend, you b***h?!" He roars. I tremble before them and our eyes finally meet. What is he talking about? I haven't done anything to Nick. I understand now why Nick won't let me see them. They terrify the hell out of me and it's not a good sight for me. If I knew his friends were coming over, I would have left the villa earlier and not been caught in this unfortunate situation. "Answer me, woman. What did you do? Aren't you supposed to be making babies and getting your payroll?" "I don't know what you are talking about," I cry. "Please let me go. I promise not to cross your path again. I beg of you…" My legs tremble before the weird looking gangsters. Their expressions make my heart sink. Those dark eyes, full of evil and the rough beards. "What do you think? You think she's telling the truth?" Another asks but the man in front of me spits in my face. "How do you believe the words of a w***e? Clement, have you ever seen Nick this distracted since you joined the gang? Think about it…." Clement sighs, he runs his fingers through his hair and glances at me with his eyes a bit soften. "I guess you are right but what if Nick finds out we were here without his permission? He will kill us bro. We should leave the girl alone and go about our business. I don't want his trouble." "Don't be such a sisi, you coward!" He thunders. "We haven't had any raids for days now and we both know who is responsible for that," he growls at me and my eyes stream down tears. "This nonsense must end now and I mean it," he grabs my wrist and tosses me to the ground. I tremble in great fear, hands pleading and eyes streaking down tears. "Please… I am begging you, I haven't done anything to your boss." "Then prove it," he commands. "How can I do that? You won't even let me. Nick approached me at the bar and you know it. You were there that night, I remember your face. He chose me. I didn't do anything to him." "You are a liar!" He thunders. "Things weren't this way before you arrived. Nick has always been focused on this course. He never leaves his men behind. He never abandons the crew and most definitely he never forgets his duty as the boss. Whatever this is, you have to end it because I promise you that you won't come out of this alive." What the heck?! Did he just say that? "You don't understand," I cry but he spits at me, his fist clenches and he slams my back against the wall. I scream at the top of my lungs, pinning myself against the wall as fear surges through me. My life flashes in my eyes and slow whispers – a cry for help slips my lips. "That's enough," Clement yells and pulls him away from me. "We have to go now before Nick gets here. Listen to me Viktor. If Nick sees us here, that will be the end of us. He will hunt us till the end of his days and I am sure you are not ready for that. C'mon let's go…" "f**k you!" Viktor snaps and slams his fist on the wall just right above my head and my eyes widen in shock. "I will be watching you, woman. You have a year to disappear after you deliver the damn baby. If I ever find out about your involvement with Nick, I will kill you…" Those words echo in my head, my body won't stop vibrating on the ground. I am a complete mess. They storm right out and I try to steady my breathing. I gasp so bad and eventually collapse on the ground with tears pouring down my eyes like a fountain. "What have I gotten myself into?" I hear footsteps approaching and with the speed of light, I wipe my tears and sniffle. Before I know it my body acts on its own accord and I stand firm on my feet. I scan the corners in the living room. I can't hear anything anymore. Did it stop? I wonder. That's good then. I run along the stairs just to get to my bedroom for a nice bath and a change of clothes but I start to hear soft humming— more like mockery. My steps falter and I turn behind me. And there's Clinton. His eyes full of hate and his lips smirking like a maniac. Hands gently clapping together. "Nice show, Tessa. You know, don't say I didn't warn you…. This is just the beginning of your misery. Others will come for you and I promise you one thing." He leans forward and whispers, "You won't survive it. What did you think? That Nick's life was perfect? That he has no Psychos in his circle? You thought wrong, girl. More will come and this time, it won't be friends but foes." "Why are you so mean?" I yell. "You can't save him, Tessa. Some things are bigger than you think. Nick's fate is sealed and you are certainly not in it. I advise you to run while you still can. Forget about the contract and never return." I clench my fist and wipe my nose. My eyes go red in an instant and I glare at the old monster. "No!" I say. "Then have it your way," he chuckles. Something about Clinton seems off and I am starting to be concerned about Nick's safety. Whatever is going on behind the scenes, I must find out but until then, I am not leaving Nick's side.
