Chapter 8 ❣︎︎ A Drape Girl!
I could not believe after all this time he said he loved me. And I was finally going to be a drape! A Cry Baby girl. Like I always planned on being.
Still if I went back home what if something happened? What if I still got arrested? If Baldwin planned on taking me down with him? I could not go to jail when I just got together with Wade.
I sigh.
"What is wrong Ronnie?" Cry Baby asks me.
He rubs the side of my arm then smiles at me.
"What if I go back home and Baldwin tells the cops that I was in on it? What if I go to jail if I return?" I worry.
"Baby, I am not leaving you here in this hell hole. You are returning home with me. Got it? Baldwin will do nothing. You did nothing wrong" states Cry Baby. "do not be afraid. You are a Cry Baby girl now"
"Right, I am being silly is all" I sigh.
He nods. "I love you sugar" he says sweetly. He swoops in kissing me. My heart flutters inside, and skips a beat.
"Wade?" I ask.
"Yes?" he answers.
"I love you to. I realize the late delay there" I giggle shyly.
He looks so pleased. Joy spreads on his handsome face.

"I love you so much sugar" he vows.
"Is that why you did not want me in the gang? I still do not get why you would not let me in" I state.
"Because I did not want you ending up in jail. I loved you to much. I could not stand by and let that happen. I waited to tell you because I was afraid my being around you would bring you down in the town. Baldwin knew I cared deeply for you. He was only going after you because I wanted you" he explains. "I tried to explain. I was scared to tell you that I loved you. Because you were a bit younger then me. And everyone probably thinks I am not good for you" he rambles on.
"I do not care what anyone else says. We are meant for one another. I mean I came right into town when you and Allison broke things off. Fate brought me into town to look for my father and my sister. I am happy it did bring you to me" I say.
"I could not have said it better myself Ronnie" he softly says.
"Let me leave my mom a note. And we will head on home" I cheerfully state.
He nods. He looks so pleased. I grab a piece of paper. Telling mom I was going back to Turkey Point. And how everyone missed me. That I would be in touch.
Then I tape it to the fridge. She would see it there. She always got a beer out of it right after work. Then Cry Baby grabs me by the hand. We head outside after I locked up the apartment. Then we hop on his bike to take a ride.

"Hold on, tight sugar" he demands sternly.
"Will do" I giggle.
I wrap my arms tightly around his middle. Then press my face into his jacket. He starts the bike up. Then we take off on the open road. The weather was warm.
The sun was out. I could hardly wait to get back home. To tell Mona and Milton how sorry I was that I ran away. I also needed to say I was sorry to the whole gang back home. For following after Baldwin. And running away.
We soon pull up to Turkey Point. I hear cheering as everyone runs up to his bike.
"Veronica!" cries out Mona happily.
"Welcome home Ronnie" says Pepper.
"Hey its our new Cry Baby sister" declares Wanda.
Everyone surrounds Cry Baby's bike. When I hope off they were all hugging me. Mona and Milton first. Then the others one by one hugged me.

"Jacket, Wanda," orders Cry Baby as he holds his hand out.
Wanda tosses Cry Baby a jacket.
He helps me get it on. I knew it had the Cry Baby logo on it. I beamed with pride to wear it. I was now an official drape girl. I belonged here. I never had been so happy in my entire life. I had so much to tell Mona later to. All about Wade telling me he loved me back!
"Welcome the new Cry Baby girl to our gang all. Welcome Veronica" he announces. They all clap and cheer for me.
"You did it girl" hoots Milton with pride for me.
"Thanks so much everyone" I say happily.
"I never want to see you with those nasty Wiffles again" warns Wanda as she makes a face.
"I won't" I giggle.
"She made it because she proved her loyalty to us. And pride to be around us. She has what it takes to be a Cry Baby girl. And a drape" Cry Baby says.
He puts his arm around my shoulder. He leans in kissing me.
"Wait hold the phone! What is going on?" laughs Mona.
"We are together, she is my girl. And she and I love one another" Cry Baby tells my sister.
"Aww" coos Pepper. "I knew it all along."
"Me to" laughs Mona. "it is about time!"
I smile.
"Time to celebrate! We are having a cook out! Come and get it!" calls out Cry Baby's grandmother Ramona.
We all head over to where the food was. Cry Baby dotted on me. Stuck by my side. I was not used to all the fan fair. I sure was loving the new attention he was bestowing on me. He got me a plate of food asking me what I wanted. Then he got his once I sat down beside Pepper at the table.

"Cry Baby has such good manners for his ladies. I did not think he would be like that" I whisper to her.
"You are his queen. The king always takes care of his queen" says Pepper as she winks at me, I nod then we giggle.
Cry Baby sits down beside me.
"Welcome home sis! We are thrilled to have you back at Turkey Point!" calls out Mona. They all cheer for me. We have a toast.
Then we begin to eat dinner. Hot dogs. Hamburgers. The works. It was all good.
"There is a party going on here! What did I miss?" someone says.
Wanda gasps. I turn to see who it was. Allison. My heart stops in my chest for a moment.

"Well Ronnie made the Cry Baby gang! Good for you Ronnie" Allison tells me with a smile.
"What are you doing back here?" Cry Baby demands to know with a stern unhappy look on his face.
"I am back. For good. I dropped out of college. I missed you all to much. I missed you most of all Cry Baby" she announces. "I came back for you"
Tears come to my eyes. One single tear slides down my cheek. I take off from the table. Wade does not even notice me leave. Allison was hugging him.
"Veronica!" Mona was calling after me.
I was heading home. I was no longer needed at Turkey Point.
