They would have loved to spend the start of September celebrating Adira and her seventeenth birthday, only, she was not conscious yet. On top of that Nathanial and Kinley had gone with Leonardo and Beta Luke to another pack. Maximus had spent the day with Stacey, planning ahead of things they wanted to do. They were both still in school for the rest of the year, but when they finished, they wanted to start organising things. They did not want to rush.
Firstly, it was to figure out where they would be living. They could stay at the Beta house, considering Maximus was going to be the next Beta once Sebastian took over as Alpha. However, he did not want to make his parents move out just so he could have privacy. Thus, the two of them figured they could stay at the pack house for the first year, to make it easier to fulfil their roles until they feel completely comfortable with what they need to do and not have so much guidance from their own parents any more.
Secondly, they wanted to start thinking about families. They did not know how soon, they did not want to rush into it, however, they talked about it and knew they wanted at least two children, one boy and one girl. Talking about it had Maximus thinking of all the possibilities, but he knew it was too early, they needed time, they needed to settle into their roles first.
Max, boundary breach! East side!
He heard Sebastian’s voice in his mind. Straightening up, he looked at Stacey. They had been laying on the couch together in his room, watching a movie. It would seem now though, that movie time was over and they needed to get into action. Stacey was a female wolf yes, but she was aiming to not only be the Beta’s mate, but she was planning to also be a warrior, to help the pack.
“Boundary breach.” Maximus stated
“Not good.” Stacey said.
They wasted no time, they rushed out of the room and the Beta house. Around them they could see a number of wolves running by, heading in an easterly direction. He knew they were going to defend the pack, defend the boundary. Quickly, the two transformed into their wolves and headed in that direction, following the rest of the wolves, making their way to help those already there.
On arrival Maximus could see a fight already in progress. He could see Alpha Gabriel, his own father, Sebastian and ten other guards holding the front line, either in human or wolf form. It seemed they were being attacked by what smelt like rouges, and while there was thirteen of them, there looked to be about fifty rouges. This was not a good thing, while they were a huge pack and had a lot of warriors fifty rouges were not an easy fight.
Rouges were difficult, dangerous and deadly. Warriors were trained to fight and protect. Rouges wanted to cause pain and damage and did not care how they did it. That meant they were brutal, fast and dirty. It could take five warriors to take one rouge down some times. It was not good and Maximus knew they had a big fight ahead of them.
As soon as he arrived, with a wolf growl, he went on the attack, moving to a rouge who slipped past the front line and started edging further into the territory. Maximus ran and jumped, cutting it off. The beast was growling at him, slobber dripping from it’s mouth, it’s eyes red as blood. Maximus froze for a moment, in question. He had never seen a werewolf like that before. He knew instantly that this was not going to be a good thing and that a big fight was now ahead of them. He did not stall any further however, as he growled back and then charged, taking on the werewolf.
Maximus was a Beta for a reason. He was skilled, he was fast and he himself was dangerous. He moved quickly and swiftly, swiping his claws at the rouge. Hit snarled at him, jumping back away, evading the impact of Maximus’ claws. In turn, he punched and tried to sink it’s deadly teeth into Maximus for where ever it could latch. He did not give the wolf time however, instead, dodged around the ugly beast again and kicked with his hind legs. He felt the impact and turning quickly, he could see the rouge was hit and stumbled back. Maximus was quick to act and rushed at the rouge, claws out and swiping.
A painful howl filled their fighting space, and looked through his wolf eyes, Maximus could see the damage her had done to the rouge. There was a nasty mark across it’s face now, claw marks he had created. It was causing one of the rouge’s eyes to bleed. He was not going to let that be the only injury however. He needed to damage the wolf enough so that it could no longer fight but would not die. They did this in any battle. To try as much as they could to keep their first attacks alive, so they could be arrested and then questioned. That was Maximus’ plan for the fight he was currently in.
He knew the spot, where the nerve was that he wanted to impact. Maximus did not want to give the wolf time to recover or regain his footing. Maximus wanted to end this battery as quickly as he could so he could continue to another rouge and work his way through them all quickly. With the thoughts in mind, Maximus jumped and this time landed on the rouges back. The rouge tried to move, to buck Maximus off of them, but he dug his claws in and held on. The rouge struggled for a moment before he stopped to think of something else to do harm. This was his bad move, for it gave Maximus the time and angle he needed.
Without hesitation, he opened his jaw and locked it down around the back of the rouges neck, digging his k-nines into the rouges flesh. He heard the wolf below him howl in pain, whimper and struggle. He could taste the putrid blood slipping out of the wound, so bad it was clear the rouge was an aged wolf and had done some pretty nasty things.
That was the thing about rouges, the longer they were a rouge, the more feral they became. The worse acts they do against wolven kind as was against the Moon Goddess, then their blood became invalid and impure. They were nasty and disgusting and they smelt bad. You could tell by all of this, what Rouge were not work helping and what rouge was. This one, no, he was not worth helping, but Maximus would keep him alive, so they could question him later.
With the nerves all cut off from the rest of the rouges body, neck down, there was nothing more it could do. The rouge collapsed to the ground, whimpering, trying to get up but had not chance. Maximus let out a wolf call and instantly, two pack wolves approached fast, avoiding the main fight and came forth. They mind linked Maximus and thanked him. Then took the rouge away, as they always did, and would take him to the cells and leave him there until the Alpha was ready to ask questions.
Knowing now that they had at least one rouge to question, Maximus did not hang around to watch it being taken away. He simply turned and looked for his next target. He could see a lot of blood over the ground, he could see a number of their warriors with injuries. He could see not dead wolves of the Redmoon pack, but he could see some dead rouges. He was pleased, seeing as it looked like they would be winning this fight.
The fight went on, once one rouge was down, Maximus moved to the next. He was a very skilled fighter, just as strong as an Alpha and he was quick and dangerous when he was there fight to protect something. Other then the rouge he had disabled, he had killed ten others by the time the fight was over. It lasted two long hours and when there were only three rouges left standing, they knew they had lost the fight and turned to run away. Alpha Gabriel would not give them the chance and in turn had the warriors chase and disable them too, to capture them. They did not want to be captured, so they fought back. Two of them ended up being killed due to their resistance to be captured, the third was disabled and like before taken to the cells.
“Everyone, home and showers.” Alpha Gabriel call out, back in human form. “After. I would like the leadership team and the head warriors to meet me in the large meeting room. Half an hour.”
Nobody wasted any time. Maximus found Stacey, checked on her to make sure she was ok. She had a couple of scraps, but she was doing fine. A few of the warriors that did not need to go to the meeting stayed back and helped the more injured wolves to the pack hospital. Maximus and Stacey made their way back to his house in wolf form and then with a nudge to each other, Maximus went inside and Stacey continued on to her house just down the road.
He was quick and he was not going to mess around in a long shower. Maximus washed the blood off himself and the stink of rouge from his body. He got dressed in track pants and a loose top and then he left the house, his father leaving at the same time, showered and fresh as well. They went to Stacey’s house waited for her and then headed towards the pack house. Stacey on the way explained her father had been taken to the Hospital and her mother was with him. He had been injured but it was not life threatening. Maximus was glad it was not bad and put his arm around her should as they walked together, getting ready to face the meeting.
It was not long before the meeting started, before everyone that was needed was there. Alpha Gabriel opened the meeting by explaining what happened. It was by luck that the group he had been with had stumbled upon the rouges. He had mind linked Sebastian right away, asking him to be in charge with linking other warriors, so then Alpha Gabriel could focus on stopping the advancing rouges. In fact, apparently, there was a stand off, nobody did anything or moved. Not until Sebastain had arrived, which was only minutes before Maximus and everyone else arrived.
The only thing that could be said for sure, was that it felt almost like they were testing how long the pack took to gather a team together to fight them. It angered Maximus to know each time they approached they were testing something. Other agreed and it was discussed that from then on, they would put extra patrols out, to keep an eye on things, to change things up here and there, so there was no pattern that the rouges could catch them out on.
It was not under Stacey spoke up and mentioned an observation she had about the rouges and the moment she said it, everyone else in the meeting nodded heads and agreed. The fact that rouges seemed stronger, deadlier and more aggressive was concerning, but worst was the fact that these rouges all had flaming red eyes. They all knew what type of creature had red eyes. A vampire, so they did not quite understand how a wolf could also have red eyes. That was until Sebastian made a suggestion, one that most would likely have been thinking, but one they all hoped would not be true if they spoke it out loud.
“That evil vampire has no shame.” Sebastian stated. “I would not be surprised if he was testing abilities, feeding the roues blood, to change their format, their DNA.”
“He is trying to make hybrids!” Kinley asked shocked at this.
“That would be my guess.” Sebastian commented.
“So, what would you suggest then my son?” Alpha Gabriel wondered.
“Outside the boundaries it does not seem safe for anyone.” Sebastian said in thought. “We need to question the captured rouges, gather as much intel as we can from them. If anyone does need to leave the territory for any reason, they are not to do so alone. It will be a group.”
“Wise.” Alpha Gabriel added with a nod. “Ok, let us try this, see how things go. You are all dismissed.”
At the Alpha’s words, everyone started to head out of the room. Maximus looked up, to try and catch Sebastian’s attention. Only, he found very quickly his friend was at the front of those leaving and he was out of sight in seconds. There was no need to ask where he was headed. It was clear he was going to be rushing back to the hospital, to stay by Adira’s side. He never left her, not unless it was a situation like today.
