MEADOW'S POV. The moment the thought crossed my mind that coming here might have been a mistake, I turned around and started walking back the way I had come. At least, I thought it was the way back. The forest looked different now. When I first entered, I had been focused on finding Ryder. I hadn't paid attention to landmarks or directions. Everything had looked ordinary then. Now every tree looked exactly the same. I kept walking anyway. Behind me, thunder rumbled faintly in the distance, and I frowned. Was another storm coming? "Ryder?" I called one last time. Nothing answered. A strange feeling settled in my stomach. The deeper I walked, the more certain I became that I should have reached the pack grounds by now. Instead, there was only more forest.
