POV David
"We have to make one stop before we leave New York."
"I can't imagine what we didn't do." Lauren said leaning back in the passenger seat. She looked exhausted. The day was only halfway through but it had been an exciting one.
After the wedding, we went to celebrate with her parents and had photographs taken. They would be delivered to our home by the time we arrived back from our cross country honeymoon roundtrip. Then we changed into traveling clothes and Mrs. Franklin was kind enough to care for the wedding attire. Now we're heading outside the city towards the wealthier neighborhoods to make one, final stop before leaving New York.
"David, where are you going?"
"You have unfinished business here that needs to be cleared up."
"I don't understand." Lauren looked confused.
"You told me that you once had an affair with a married man, who failed to mention he was married."
Lauren cast her eyes down in shame. I pulled the car off to the side of the road.
"Lauren?" She turned to face me, but refused to look at me. I reached out and lifted her chin. "Never be ashamed. You did nothing wrong. He was wrong to take advantage of you. He was wrong to cast you aside when he was done with you. You deserved so much better." I smiled and released her chin.
"I got it." She spouted out.
"I hope so." I laughed.
"No, I mean, I got the better man. I got the better man because I got you David." She smiled.
"He could never measure up to you." She unbuckled her seat belt and climbed over the center console to sit in my lap.
Her feet remained off to the passenger side as her hips rested on me. She pressed herself against my hips and the need took over us. My arms pulled at her clothing as her hand pulled my hair and released my tie. Nothing could have broken the spell, well nothing except the accidentally bumping of the horn that received the unwanted attention of a passing state trooper.
He rapped his knuckles against the window and I was forced to break contact with my wife to roll the window down.
"Good afternoon." The officer's chipper voice was full of humor, this was probably not the first inappropriate session he had to break up in his career, but we might be the oldest couple he has ever broken up.
Lauren shuffled over to her seat and attempted to correct her clothing.
"Do you realize that you are on the side of a busy highway, in the middle of the day?" The officer asked.
"I do."
"Were you planning on having relations in the middle of the day, sir? With this lady here?"
"My wife. We just got married this morning. We are driving out for our honeymoon."
"Well congratulations to you both! I wish you the best of luck, but I'm going to have to recommend you keep the maritals behind closed doors."
"Yes sir. We shall keep that in mind."
"You do that, now get on out of here and find that destination so you can start your honeymoon. Congratulations again, have a wonderful rest of your day." The officer turned and walked back to his car.
I looked over at Lauren, and we just started laughing. I have never been so embarrassed in my life, but what a story to have.
"Okay, if I can handle being exposed in front of an officer, I can handle telling Mr. Randle's wife what sort of man she married too. Let's go, I'm ready." She smiled at me and buckled herself back in.
I removed my tie and attempted to adjust myself. Lauren had awakened an urge that was not quite ready to be put to rest.
