LifeWillis speaks my name again, his tone implying he’s been trying to gain my attention for a while. I snap my eyes open and am blinded by whiteness. I squeeze them shut again. My head spins and the world tilts sideways. “I need a pen.” I focus on the task. My voice is quiet and raspy from lack of use, or screaming in pain. I don’t remember now. A chair scrapes across the floor. I repeat the code over and over in my head as I lie still. It is like a dream trying to fade away into my subconsciousness, but I can’t let it. I have to record it before it’s lost. My body aches as though I have been lying motionless for a long period of time.
