Austin remained silent for a while, as I wondered what was going through that mind of his. Why does he care so much about what happens between me and Loyd if he's so sure he doesn't want me as his mate? What does he really want? He took some steps forward—still no word—and I was still unable to read his expression.
But I didn't retreat backward.
" You need to stay away from him, Seline," I heard Austin say. " I don't want you near him."
