Sebastian The grass beneath me is damp and cold, a sharp contrast to the heat that clings to my skin. Sweat trickles down my temple, underneath me, but I hardly notice. The night is quiet except for the sound of her breathing, unsteady, like the rhythm of my own heart. Elizabeth lays a few feet away, her hands drawn to her chest, as if shielding herself from the world. Her eyes are fixed on the dark sky, but I can see the torment swirling in them. And God, I can feel my own. The weight of it sits heavy in my chest, a piercing ache that spreads with every second I stare at her. Tonight was supposed to be a turning point.
