Chapter 3

Damian's face darkened as he slammed the abortion report onto the ground. "Raven, care to explain this?" I snorted, unfazed. That single act ignited his fury. Without another word, he dragged me into his car and sped toward the hospital. There sat Clara, sobbing her heart out while clutching a pair of rag dolls. "Because of you, Clara developed severe depression. The doctor said she would never recover unless this pain is resolved. You should grovel for mercy at her feet!" His self-righteous act made me scoff. 'Apologize to Clara? She wouldn't deserve it even in her next life.' I turned to leave when a sudden click froze me in my tracks. My blood turned to ice at the sound. Damian held up his phone, his expression twisted with malice. "Raven, don't push me." After my seven uncles died brutally, he'd personally destroyed that humiliating video from my past. Now, hearing those screams again, I doubled over, retching violently. For a heartbeat, something like regret flickered in Damian's eyes. He stepped toward me, but then Clara burst in, drawn by the commotion. The moment she saw me, she snapped. "You monster! Where's my baby?!" "Damian, our child is gone... The doctor said I'll never conceive again!" Her guttural screams filled the room. "Make her kneel! Make her beg for our child's forgiveness!" Damian held her tight, the hesitation in his eyes hardening into resolve. "Raven, I'll give you the entire Gray Family. But Clara and our child were innocent. You had no right. Five minutes. Then this video goes viral." I stared at him, nausea rising again. He dared to talk to me about innocent children. He never knew we'd had twins once. Barely formed. When his legs were paralyzed, I'd aborted them to test his experimental drugs. The doctor warned me, my weak body would never carry another child. I hadn't hesitated. "Nothing in this world matters more than him." Years of drug trials left me bleeding out on the operating table. They ripped out my womb. I'd never bear children. Seeing Damian waver at my tears, Clara acted fast. Before he could react, she snatched the phone and sent the video. "Raven, you cursed witch! Your own parents' deaths are on you! Die childless, and that's your karma!" Damian paled, but it was too late. Arthur's men tackled him to the floor. "Raven, don't hurt her!" My lips twisted into something vicious. I whipped out the dagger strapped to my thigh and ripped open a gruesome wound across Clara's mouth. Grabbing her hair, I slammed her face into the ground with a bone-crunching impact. "If you miss your brat so much, why not rot in hell with him?" After unleashing my fury, I flung her aside. Without blinking, I splintered the exquisite dagger in half, the very blade Damian had forged for me years ago. It had been my constant companion until his betrayal made its weight unbearable. As I strode past Damian, I seized his hair and wrenched hard, forcing a gasp from his lips. Meeting his dazed eyes, I flashed him a feral smirk. "A dog that bites its master deserves to die." My whisper carried lethal calm. "You or no you, I'm still Raven and the Gray Empire stays mine." His gaze darted to Clara's bloodied form before he spat through clenched jaws, "Raven... my adopted father was right." His voice cracked with loathing. "A creature like you is unlovable." My mother bled out the day I was born. Years later, my father's pregnant new wife plunged to her death down the stairs alone with me. Two lives erased in an instant. After that, the Gray clan spat at me as a cursed abomination.
