Chapter 19: Point

202 Words
That night, the tension finally snapped. “You’re doing this on purpose,” Alexander said. Amara frowned. “Doing what?” “This,” he gestured slightly. “Getting close to him.” She stepped closer instead of backing away. “Maybe I’m just living my life.” His eyes darkened. “You don’t move on that fast.” “Maybe I do,” she replied. That was it. His hand caught her wrist. Firm. Pulling her back toward him. Her breath hitched at the sudden contact. “You’re mine,” he said quietly. Her heart pounded against her chest. “This is a contract,” she said, but her voice wasn’t steady anymore. Because the way he said it— Didn’t feel like one. His grip loosened slightly, but he didn’t let go completely. And neither of them moved. The space between them was small again. Dangerous. Her pulse raced as his thumb brushed lightly against her wrist. A simple movement. But it sent a rush through her. “You keep pushing me,” he said softly. “And you keep reacting,” she whispered back. Their eyes locked. Neither willing to back down. But neither willing to walk away either.
